Media Decoder reports an article of the New York Times stating that Transformers Revenge of The Fallen has earned 50% more at UK box-office on Friday then it's predecessor Transformers the Movie two years ago.

You can’t tell much from the box office performance of a film on a single night, in a single foreign territory. But Paramount executives were congratulating themselves on Saturday over the Friday night results of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” in the United Kingdom. Word had it that the movie had done roughly 50 percent better than its predecessor, which two years ago went on to take in $389 million in foreign markets, and $319 at the domestic box office.

With the hot start in England, company executives were privately speculating that the new “Transformers” film had a shot at becoming Paramount’s second-highest grossing film, behind “Titanic,” which took in a monstrous $1.8 billion worldwide under a split deal with Fox.

That would be a nice start for Adam Goodman, who was named president of the movie group on Friday, as two fellow executives, John Lesher and Brad Weston, were ushered out. Both were offered producer deals. The betting here is that Mr. Weston will accept, while Mr. Lesher strikes for greener pastures.

Nice. 2 things I'm hoping for: Box office will shut all the idiots comparing it to the Dark knight up, and Terminator director McG will eat his words of his movie beating RotF at the box office.

Two of my friends and I just added to the box office growth at the IMAX, earlier today!

It was utter BAYHEM! Explosively brilliant! XD

But, can someone please explain the deal with the two lots of Constructicons/Devastator? Although, it might explain why the toys are being released as they are...Anyone else who has seen it will know what I mean! :???:

Um...dots, commas, exclamation points...maybe some semicolons...a question mark or 2...

But I agree. Heath's death really added extra attention to the movie. Now, if Bay dropped dead over the weekend...

I agree with Ledgers death adding points but i think the movie would still have won at least one of those awards. Even if bay dropped dead over the weekend (hears hoping) TF would never win either of those awards. "The movies just one big commercial filled with explosions". This quote was taken from a friend who seen a leaked copy who would like to remain unnamed. And no its not me, im seeing it on wednsday for free(movie pass FTW). Plus the bootleg was crap and got a headache after watching the first 10 min.

I know he put the awards in there and I quoted it, but I was talking more about the box office than winning awards.

ROTF deserveds to beat Salvation, whatever its faults it's a much better movie than the almost totally uninspired Salvation, which is a shame as in some ways I was actually looking forward to Salvation more.

Well, I would side with RotF even if Salvation was the perfect movie, just because I'm a Transfan. And that idiot McG set himself up by running his mouth about Bay and Transformers. Oh, and yeah, Salvation is a piece of ****.

An Army of robots with machine guns and the odd terminator that is so big and has weapons that reminded me too much of a transformers without the ability to transform, OR, highly sophisticated alien transforming robots who some hate humans while others fight for them. Personally i think the second one e.g. Transformers, sounds way better!
Yes Salvation was rubish, Transformers was the best film i have ever watched and i am watching it for a second time on the weekend!
