So, What was the Ice Cream Trucks "Key Plot Point"?

Last month at Botcon, I was present to give you the scoop on all the happenings and the panels that took place. In one of my reports I posted the
Orci/ Kurtzman Q&A session to which we were told:
Also mentioned were the twins, Skids and Mudflap, as an ice cream truck. It was said that they are basically comic relief and that the ice cream truck itself plays a key plot point in the movie.
What was it? I didn't see the point of it at all. Someone help me out here.

Spying and locating the first 'Con featured in the movie? Other than that, maybe intoduing the two? I really didn't see the key plot point beyond that. Maybe it got cut out.

It was a major plot point??
Where?
In establishing that they were twins?
In establishing that they were the "bumbling" comic relief?
In establishing that one has a huge right arm and other has a huge left arm?
I agree, where was the key plot point in this?

Not a plot point, but certainly the right answer.
I dont think the movie had any plot points... it didnt have a plot!

They had an important message that needed to be heard by all. And that message was:

suck my popsicle. Seriously though I think it was just for comedy.

Precisely.
At first, I thought they were funny (I still do) but after having an 8-hour workshift to think about the movie, I think that other than the 2 funniest lines and the fact that they showed Sam the way to the Matrix by busting open the Primes' chamber while beating each other up (could this be the so-called key plot point?) they had no use whatsoever. their screen time could have gone to more character development of Starscream and Soundwave. They shot up devastator's face, but it was no use, as he still destroyed the pyramid.

I think the other lines
"Hey that hurt!"
"It's supposed to hurt, it's an asskicking!"
and
"That's 'cause you're a pussy!"
were hilarious.

I found the twins hilarious, and really like them! Even if they haven't got the best looks they are great 'bots!

I was surprisingly amused by the twins.
Perhaps the purpose of the ice cream truck alt mode was to act as a decoy and draw out that Con at the start of the film?
Oh, BTW, why did Bay feel the need to dedicate screentime to three separate instances of dogs humping each other?!

Key plot point - They are now the silly but occassionally effective comic relief because Bumblebee has become too badass to be the 'Child Attraction/Comic Relief Character' ... though him sulking into the garage like a scolded dog was still funny.
I'll admit, despite first misgivings the two grew on me. Their goofy lines and squabbling and fighting like real siblings amused me.
And unlike JARJAR that they keep getting compared to, they actually fought Devestator (abiet awkwardly) and not just utterly stupid dumb luck.
"Lookit that hair. It's like a damn Chia Pet!"

they're key plot point was discovering the matrix of leadership. remember sam needed to find that out in order to revive optimus and even though they mistakenly found it through them fighthing, they discovered it nonetheless

I'm just thankful that Bay decided not to make them Sideswipe and Sunstreaker...
Funny sure, until you think about the language they're using as the 7, 8 year olds watch the movie.
Kids toys to PG-13 action movie do not mix. We all know parents are dumb, and are not expected to know anything about a movie before buying ticket for their too young child.
Yes, they were funny, but I enjoyed Prime's kick@$$ness a whole lot more.

I'm glad he didn't name them Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. I wouldn't have minded if he used them but at least have their personalities resemble that of G1, not the immature one that were the twins. I think the real brothers would have been good here instead of the twins.

I felt the Ice Cream truck thing was pointless. They could have used it to show a funny scene with people buying ice cream off the truck. Some exposition sequence that showed non-battle interaction. Instead they were an ice cream truck with English labels in China. What kind of a disguise was that?
