So where was Barricade?

The writers said the question about what happened to Barricade in the first film would be answered in ROTF. I didn't see him anywhere and neither did my wife. Where was he?

He's still on his way to Mission City. Or maybe he swung by Jordan to pick up Wheelie who's still hanging out inside the giant doorway to the old Primes.

I want him in TF3 - i loved his character.

Maybe the idea is that we are meant to think that he has already been hunted down by NEST and the Autobots

I think he was the one who picked up the Witwickys.

I want my Barricade!!! He was such a kool character in the first Transformers film. I really hope he's in TF3 to kick autobot @$$. And he'd better be in the movie for more than 5 seconds.

Barricade has 9 lives. First he's supposed to die in the 2007 Movie Novel Adaptation, then he gets mauled by Prime in the RotF Prequel Novel: Veiled Threat.

In all honesty I wouldn't doubt he's still alive.

I don't think it was, looked like one of the unnamed Decepticon generics to me.

Obviously something important and bad was happening to the Decepticons and the cop car took an hour to get there.

Since the Sideways toy shows similarities with Barricades, I'd say it's highly probable that the animators re-used Barricades model for the short scene he transformed into robot mode.

Maybe Sideways was intened to be Barricade but they scrapped the idea and called him sideways. So he still could be out there.

This is the one area of the movie that I was genuinely disappointed with. After 2 years of asking what happens to Barricade as only told by the box office, and being promised that his disappearance was "a thread for the sequel", I feel used and saddened. The rest of the movie was great, it all worked for me, and it is what it is.

But damnit, I want my Barricade story! Or at least release the rumored "death scene" filmed for the 07 movie on the ROTF dvd so I can finally have closure.

That was one of the drones or whatever they were, the ones that were all identical.

I missed Barricade, I honestly couldn't say if he was in the movie or not.

He was the coolest Decepticon in the first movie, I'll never forget his line "THIS ONE IS MINE"... very evil-sounding and when he first transformed in front of Sam... jaw-dropping. Barricade is, in my mind, the embodiment of what a Decepticon should be.

my guess too is that they did this. Why waste all the time & $ on him in the first movie and not use him again? It was weak he didn't even have a cameo. Frenzy did.
Call me crazy, but i though Soundwave came down himself to kidnap the Witwickys.

I believe Soundwave stayed in orbit attached to the Satellite

Within the two years Nest has been hunting down the Decepticons, I wonder if maybe we are supposed to believe he was one of those who were killed already? When Bonecrusher was turning over cars around him on the freeway in the first movie, maybe he accidentally caused one of those vehicles to crash into Barricade? He just disappeared.

Barricade was shown to be alive still in the prequal graphic novel, still spying on the Bots while Starscream was getting reinforcements.

He gets mangled by Prime in the prequal novel, but I don't believe it was enough to kill him.

Personal 'make the fan in me happy because I love the character' theory: Barricade is one of the few Decepticons that actually has a sense of self-presevation without being a whiny coward. He was still hurting from the throwdown with Bumblebee in the first movie, so when he was run off the highway he knew he couldn't keep up any longer and went into hiding.

Likewise, because of the thrashing he took from Prime in the book, he went back to lurking instead, because he'd be more of a liability and likely casualty than anything else.

Well which Decepticons survived TF2? Soundwave, Megatron, StarScream was that all? If so that means those 3 and barricade SHOULD be the ones on TF3, unless they get loads of new ones again! I would personally like to see StarScream and Soundwave develop more.

Unless Reign of Starscream is either taboo or not canon, Barricade chased Ironhide, and crashed into a bridge pylon.
That's why he disapeared.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that GM was a sponsor of this movie and Barricade is a Mustang.

Or maybe Ford balked at it, not wanting to be portrayed as the "evil" car.

Or maybe he just wasn't in Transformers 2 and will be in 3.

Ford would be absolutely out of their mind to pull out of TF2 for that reason. I mean, look at the box office numbers. Not everyone likes the good guys either. Very strange no Barricade. Brawl had a cameo didn't he?? I know Blackout did --till.....oh you guys know what........

Doubtful since the first movie's licensing agreement for Barricade was with Saleen, not Ford. Afterall, he isn't a "Mustang", he's a Saleen S281, the proper name for a Mustang that's been worked over by Steve Saleen's company. And also this time around they used an Audi R8 as a bad guy, so it probably wasn't GM interference. But if you notice, the Sideways toy is not officially licensed by Audi. Hence why he's somewhat inaccurate and has no Audi insignia.

No, they just screwed us over on the Barricade story IMO.
