Everywhere you turn these days, there are reports of the sagging US auto industry. However, in part due to the popularity of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and the Bumblebee character General Motors has been seeing incredible demand for its 2010 Chervrolet Camaro sports car.

Here is an excerpt from a Bloomberg report.

June 25 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp., rushing to emerge from bankruptcy as a profitable automaker, can’t keep up with demand for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro sports car.

GM has filled about half the 25,000 Camaro orders taken, said Terry Rhadigan, a GM spokesman. Dealers, staggered by GM’s 42 percent U.S. sales decline in the first five months of the year, report that the new vehicles sell within days. Analysts say they sell for about $500 more than sticker price on average.

Damn dealers! I enquired about a new Camaro and they told me even if i ordered one, they were going to charge a $5,000 mark up! Found a dealer out of state that are willing to sell for MSRP. Might be doing a rod trip soon!

I saw one of these drive by yesterday-- a gray one. It was kinda surreal...seeing this model for almost 3 years as a 'bot, now suddenly going by. It had a much greater novelty than seeing an exotic or the latest 'it' car go by (remember when the new bug came out?).

I want one.

Not really a fan of this car. Saw one in person and it was meh. Ill admit it was fun to drive but any sports car is if you think about it. Especially when you drive a ford ranger every day.

theres a yellow camero with the black racing stripes sitting at a dealership here.

always been a huge fan of cameros so i want one bad. think it has more to do with the fact that cameros havnt been produced in awhile for the desire for them.

Yeah I read that GM was going to make a limited edition Bumblebee Camaro available. I wouldn't mind having that especially because of the Autobot symbol in the steering wheel! I think it doesn't matter what car I get next, but I would much rather have a Decepticon symbol instead and at least a killer exhaust! Hmmm maybe black with red stripes 2010 Mustang?

Same here, but then again I'm a Ford guy. I just didn't think they totally captured the retro look like Ford did with the Mustang.
