Skids, and Mudflap... Why they were a Win in ROTF...

OK, so its no secret that Skids, Mudflap are the topic of conversation in ROTF. Some say they have been portrayed as being "black" and their behavior was offensive to people of the African American race. Others felt that they were nothing more than comic relief for the film, and brought out alot of laughs. Others thought they were just plain stupid, annoying, made the autobots look bad and were a wasted space that could have been used for more character development for other autobots/decepticons. Personally,(and this is coming from a black guy, (oops,i mean "African American")) i thought they were funny as hell, saw no racial Tye in with black people since... well...they weren't black! They were robots. But that is neither here, nor there.
I had a talk with a buddy of mine who thought they had their moments, but also felt they got on his nerves at the same time. I thought about this for a while... I came to the conclusion of this...
Who cares? Not in the manner that his opinion doesn't count, or mine matters more than his, cause it doesn't. But the fact of the matter is, if these two characters are causing this much controversy, i think Bay and company did there job. And did it quite well. They gave two TF's an impressionable personality, and character. Isn't that what the majority of us wanted?
"But they were just stupid and annoying! I would have rather have seen someone else!"
So what! NO one said you have to like them. Just cause their Autobots, does not mean they should have to be like-able or be all proper. This just proves to me that every side, good or bad, has their characters that will appeal to certain individuals. No not a bad person for liking, or hating them. Their not bad characters for not appealing to you, or the masses. Their characters that can possibly relate to others for reasons that fit them.
So the way i see it, bay did just what most wanted. Gave some bots some real personality and characterization. You can't be mad cause its not what you had pictured in your head.
OK, rant over!
