I'm sure most of you are familiar with the 1980's animated cartoon movie of transformers. Now, in all cartoon versions of transformers, Ravage is depicted as being more like a dog. However, in Revenge of The Fallen, he's more cat-like. Anyone else notice this?

Ravage was a black panther on the cartoon, hence his cat-like appearance in ROTF.

Acually he was a black jaguar, hence his japanese name "Jaguar".

Uh... in the 80s cartoon he was always more like a cat...
He hissed and roared and snarled... like a big cat.
Thus he is still a cat.

But I always thought he was a panther. I thought jaguars were spotted and yellow/brown. Panthers are black.

Technically, the term "
black panther" is the generic term to refer to a melanistic (black) colored leopard, jaguar, or cougar.
And since Ravage's japanese name is "Jaguar", I'm going with that on his animal form.

Ravage has always been a large cat, I believe there was a line in the original cartoon where one of the Autobots went "Bad Kitty!".

I've only once seen him referred to as a dog and that was in one of the IDW comics after which somebody says "it's more like a big cat actually".

Well, that was probably a non-TF fan, who just saw the movie. In RotF he doesn't really resemble a big cat. He is more like a dog. Especially when they're searching for Sam and show Ravage sniffing around. That's what dogs do.
