Why is he so obsessed with ROTF that he feels he needs to write 3 articles concerning it?

Dead Metal I don't think that was the point read what the guy from Halifax said he is defending this movie as if it was the Bible for Primus sakes and saying it's not for guys over fifty. My dad would like to have a word with him.

Yea I know what it was about and I think defending this movie is just as ridicules as defending the bible, I still don't get why he had to start a whole article about it.
Personally I think this is getting really ridicules:
1 Movie comes out
2 gets (millions of) bad reviews
3 movie makes a lot of money
4 fandom splits into two groups people that like“d the movie and those that didn't
5 War brakes out between the critics, the fandom and the fandom

The f**k?!
It's a god damn movie it's entertaining, it's a bad movie, yes Kurtzman and Orci suck at writing but seriously the debate going on right now is seriously over the top and immature and that goes for Ebert as well.
Seriously in Germany we have a saying "The smarter one gives in" the way it looks right now nobody is smart.

I'm so not going to visit the movie forum any more.

See you suckers.

Honestly, I suspect he's writing so much about ROTF because apparently he thinks making fun of Transformers fans is comedy gold. Clearly he's having fun with it.

I'm getting a little tired of his pseudo-intellectual snarks, myself. No, wait, I've always hated him. Never mind.

(Oh, can we make ourselves less-easy targets, and maybe for the story lead on the homepage, spell 'brainiac' correctly? While I'm sure his a fan of bran (a man his age needs his fiber), it's not even making him have to work for 'fans of giant robots are stupid people' material.)

HK, what kind of ponce would call himself a 'brainiac' unironically?

These are the same guys that wrote the recent Star Trek movie. While that had it's flaws, the writing's pretty solid in comparison to the TF movies.

Of course, the fact that the TF movies and Star Trek had different directors makes a ton of difference, too. But I wouldn't be so quick to blame TF's failings (whatever they are, and only if you think it has them) on the writers alone.

eh, if you really want to give those two credit, credit them for writing Fringe.

I can only give credit for works I've actually seen.

But if Fringe is as good as the hype I've heard about it, sure, go right ahead.

You haven't seen Fringe? I highly recommend it. Starts off a little show but it picks up later in the season.

He's posted 3 articles bashing the movie and he gives Cloverfield, Speed 2, and Bruno good reviews? I'm starting to think he just flips a coin and goes with that.

Personally, i think he's he's pissed that after his initial review of the movie and giving it the criticism he did, it still became a financial success. People then question his credibility, so he feels that he then needs to justify his own reasoning to regain what little respect he had/has as a movie critic. He'll never admit it, but you know its killing him inside that this movie is making as much money as it as with the high approval rating its getting from not the fans, but the general public.

Did everyone just completely miss the fact that he said he DIDN'T write about the twins in his initial review? It took a dumb-ass, hot-headed TF fan to get the already dying topic of racism relit again and yet Ebert is still the focus of everyones hate?
I want to kick that fans butt and let Ebert off the hook. Yeah I still think Ebert is an egomaniacal pain in the ass, but he wouldn't have had cause to even write a 3rd blurb if Jackass Prime there hadn't over-reacted the same as half the people on this website have and stirred sh** up again. For once, I think folks are going after the wrong monster with torches and pitchforks.

He didn't have to respond to that, he chose to so he could once again bash the movie.

Not the writers alone, but they're not entirely blameless. Not every thing even a great writer writes is pure genius, just like not every time (insert famous baseball player) is at bat, does he hit a home run. (Sorry, I don't follow sports, but I think the analogy might hold).

And yeah a director can completely change a movie. Read John Milius's script for _Apocalypse Now_ (oh my GOD that blows!) and then watch the movie. Coppola made enormous changes (all for the better). Some of the Milius stuff he kept made it out in the dreadful 'redux' version.

Still, I think Orci knew he was ditching the TF project months before it came out, and I can't help but wonder how much of that was his own acknowledgement that this one was a failure even by his own standards.

I still think Ebert thinks that making fun of TF fans is funny, the same way most of America thinks it's okay to make fun of fat people.

(Thanks for the spelling fix, btw, guys. Sometimes I think everyone here just ignores me.)

HK, today's the kind of day you hunt down old Army buddies on Facebook.

I'm not.

Is Ebert still talking about this movie? Dude, seriously, move on. You don't like the movie. We get it. I'm sure there's plenty of subtitled Polish movies about the death of a moth, or new Woody Allen flicks about how it's not wrong to marry the girl you raised as your daughter as long as you do it ironically out there for you to enjoy.
