I heard that in the japanese version is not "Convoy" its still Optimus Prime.
And still Autobots and Decepticons, instead of tranditional "Cybertrons" or "Destrons".
Can someone explain to me why they decided to leave it alone this time?I'm curious. 8)

Yes, you are correct. The live movie in Japan use "Optimus Prime", "Bumblebee", "Autobot", and "Decepticon" instead of "Convoy", "Bumble", "Cybertron", and "Destron".

I don't know the exact reason for this, but it may have to do with these being live action movies instead of animated movies. With animation, you could say anything, so long as you lines fit the lip sync. But with live action, specific words need to spoken to match the dialogue.

This is just my theory, cuz I think it would be obvious that when Sam would say "Optimus" that his lips aren't saying "Convoy-san".

Then again, it may have just been an easier marketing method to use identical names on a global scale for these movies and their merchandise.
