Anyone spot the legacy references?

Long time lurker, very rarely post-er ^_^

I couldn't find this topic while searching, so if a similar topic is alive, please close this one.

So, after watching the newest trailer, damn near every one of my doubts has been cast aside...but I was wondering if anyone's taken the time to note a LOT of references the movie has been making, whether they're intentional or unintentional.

The Movie poster itself
"More than meets the eye?" anyone? :D

1a. Optimus Prime's mouth.

Two words: Orion Pax
http://www.answers.com/topic/orionpax-ariel-jpg

He's got one. Get over it.

Remember, it's still a battle mask on his face. Which leads too...

2. Battle masks referenced from Dreamwave Comics
It seems they took the comic joke of toy/cartoon variances one step further. Where in the comic the masks were their toy faces, here they seem much more ornate.

3. The Rub-Off Decals
When Spike (Sam, whatever) wipes the steering wheel column, the Autobot insignia shows up. Just like the toy's "black" insignia labels.

4. Bumblebee G1
Obviously sitting next to movie Bumblebee in the car sales lot. Which, I have to give Bay credit here; he answered the call from the point of a modern day kid. If you saw a Beetle or the Camaro, which would you choose to be your first car?

I'm actually curious to see if there will be any other G1 cars in the lot.

5. Bumblebee's TF Vs G.I. Joe Fate
In the original, 80's Joe vs TF series, the Joe's kill off BB thinking he was a bad guy. It looks like Sam is being pulled away by police / military as BB's getting attacked. If they are, nice homage. Here's hoping there's a Flint or Duke among the soldiers. ^_^

6. The Decepticon designs are actually on the money

Okay, yes, Starscream is a bit...out there, and at first I was asking if Guyver new Megs had his armor.

However...

If you look back at the "Robots in Disguise" toy line, it was more or less good guy cars/trucks against insects / animals. If you were to rip off RiD Megatron's wings in this picture:

http://seibertron.com/toys/fullsize.php ... &image=111

and then toss in the Bay-style mechanics, it IS the Megatron we all know and love. If we continue this comparison of RiD's bug side, you could assume Starscream has a bit of Waspinator in him (face, arms, legs, with Screamer's body).

Toss in a rather subtle nod to Beast Wars with Bonecrusher's ape-like running style / stance and Scorponok's appearance.

7. The Eye colors and Sound effect

Already covered in the news post.

8. Meggy in the ice...another comic reference?

Didn't one of the newer-gen comic's opening sequences involve Decepticons being pulled from the ice? I think it was Soundwave though...

9. Jurassic Park in-joke?

This is stretching it, but if BB is really legless in the back of that truck, and if he's shooting at Megatron...all you would need is BB turning to Megan Fox and going "Faster, must go faster!" or her seeing the rear-view mirror warning to set-up the Megatron BW Dinosaur vs the JP Jeep nod.

That's all I have so far. I am seriously jonesing for this movie, and I was one of the original nay-sayers.

7 - 4 - 07 can not get here fast enough. [/b]

Also, Skyfire was buried in the ice in the G1 cartoon and, more relevant but perhaps more unknown, G1 Galvatron was buried in the ice in Headmasters.

I dont think its a Rub Off, I think the logo is just there and Sam rubs because he has never seen it before and its in his "new car"

It also just occured to me the entire used lot thing was in the original comics, the "Used Autobots" storyline with the Throttlebots.

Also, I hope that damn in the trailer holds the Op / Meggy fight :D

That damn is the Hover damn. They built the damn over the Allspark and broght Megatron from the Artic to store him in the damn for study. I do not think that is where their firght happens. I imagine it is in LA.

Umm... just so you know (I'm not trying to be a smartass or nitpicky) there's no 'n' in that variety of 'dam'.

Megatron was buried in the ice in the original U.S. comics, so yeah that might be a nod. The yellow VW in the car lot, also a nod...but the rest: You are reaching...BADLY.

What, no fun?

Heck, Brawl even rollerblades into the bus. Nothing a Roller-Skating T-Rex in Beast Wars might do... :P

These references don't really seem like stretches to me, but there's no way of knowing whether they're deliberate or just happy coincidences.

My sister did that once... in a report at work... he is a city planner and she accidently wrote Damn 1 damn 2 and damn 3 and whatever... her boss came to her later and asked if she was having a bad day.

On topic: They built the dam Over the allspark? as in, the allspark is in the concrete or just in the structure?
