1st film: Did Jazz just sit there?

In the 2007 film, just after Sam notices that Bumblebee's legs have been blown off, is that Jazz parked behind him in vehicle mode? As Bumblebee crawls towards him, Sam tells the Jazz-looking car to "back up!" and the car does. If this is Jazz, why in the world would he just be sitting there doing nothing instead of helping the situation? (I realize that in the next scenes, he attacks Brawl, but still...)

Any insights?

No, Bumblebee got hit right after the good guys arrived at Mission City--it was the start of the battle.

I figured he took some kind of damage from the missile attack and was temporarily unable to transform.

Except with a sword.

Betcha he was just shy about transforming out of that particular alt mode, since everyone knows the Pontiac Solstice is a girl's car! :P

I always figured it was because of budget and time constraints.

Yes Jazz did nothing but it would have wasted money just having him stand around in robot mode, doing nothing.

Let's see. Girl's car. Girls like *boys*, so Jazz is a boy car that gets hot girls to sit in him. Sounds like *win* to me.

Actually, one of my dear friends--crusty old Viet vet SGM--drives a Solstice. He'd kill you with a paperclip if you made fun of him for it.

HK,*I* of course, make fun of him all the time.

The male version of the Solstice is the Saturn Sky.

Considering Jazz started as a Porsche 935 race car and now is stuck as a Pontiac Solstice, he has every right to feel ashamed.

Tell your pal to bring it on with that paper clip.

There is great truth in these words, my friend. He should have been something sexy and Italian. A Lambo or some such. Solstices do have those big, ahem, booties. Hindquarters.

Ah, first you must get through me armed with various hairstyling implements. FEAR my paddle brush! *Thwack*.

HK, sorry, it's late, I'm way punchy. But look--thread related content!

Maybe Jazz just didn't care? Maybe he knew in the next scene his character would get torn apart so he was probably sulking.

The scene where the Autobots take the Sector 7 agents' weapons has the autobots standing about completely idle, out of focus, in lots of closeups of the humans.
