OK,
I couldn't find this thread so I don't know if this has been discussed before but...
After watching the ROTF dvd, I'm pretty sure it was Soundwave that grabbed Sam's parents in Paris.
It's not Barricade coz it didn't even look like him. At the theatres, I thought it was the Fallen. And the Fallen was on an Aircraft Carrier in the ocean at that time
But now, I now think it's Soundwave. The face looks like Soundwave and It was he who contacted Sam's mom on the phone to locate them and it was he who grabbed them.

Highly doubt it was Soundwave, he's was maiming the satellite throughout the movie. I'm thinking it was one of the drones that grabbed the parents.

It was one of the generic Decepticons. You can see concept art of Soundwave's robot mode in the special features disc. He looks cool!

Which begs the obvious question: if wasn't going to be seen in robot mode, why design it?

After just finishing watching it, the robot looks like it has Blackout/Grindor's face. No wings visible = no soundwave for me

Exactly. Hopefully they'll use him in the 3rd movie.

after watching the blu ray, that robot looked and sounded a lot like Barricade pause your blu ray at that scene and compare the face they look exactly the same

and they designed soundwave b/c he was or could of been in his robot form but they obviously trashed the idea, but hey he could be in the 3rd movie.

Chances are good that they will, given the fact that he survived. Then again, Barricade survived the first movie, and he wasn't featured in ROTF. Speaking of which, IMO I think the writers planned for him to be featured in ROTF using Sideways' incarnation (which explains the uncanny resemblance), but they probably figured that it wasn't worth the trouble explaining that this was Barricade in a re-scanned alt mode, since he gets killed within minutes of his appearance. Thus, they simply used his design as another character. In fact, Sideways wasn't even named in the movie; we just got the name from the toy.

My guess on Soundwave's robot mode was that Hasbro had asked for a robot mode design to use for the toy sence the design on the DVD looks an awfull lot like the toy design.
Speaking of which I didn't think about this till watching the movie on DVD but Ravage shares a rather odd trait with his G1 name sake. Besides the fact that he ejected from Soundwave, Ravage has ass guns. I don't know what else to call them, they're rather large riffle like weapons that seem to be mounted on or near the sides of his ass.

I doubt too. It doesn't look like Soundwave in my opinion and I hope it will not be.

It wasn't Soundwave. It was just a generic Decepticon protoform with what it looks like Grindor's face. At least that's what it looked like to me.

I think Soundwave is still in orbit. He never seemed like the front lines type to me.
And that gives me a question. Why does everybody make jokes about him raping that satellite? I thought it was more of a Borg-style assimilation thing.

I think that's Barricade...
if you see his head it looks like Barricades head to me. So now we know what happened to him. And it makes sense since Barricade was the first Decepticon that Sam sees that he will be also the first decepticon Sam's parents see.

It's just that he used tentacles and a lot of us are immature pricks that watched too many tentacle rape hentai.

But then again there is Kiss Players and Bay did say he would homage more than just G1.....
