Design Aspects that bug me

Is it just me or does everyone think that the Rotf toy designs are freaking weird. Arcee and Chromia are like pipe cleaners some kid got bored with. What was wrong with the Arcee design from the first movie? Demolishor looks like a pogo stick with wheels. Rampage IS a pogo stick. Devastator is some gorilla thing with a hyper vacuum cleaner for a mouth. Megatron has a shriveled arm. Ravage is a cyclops and the fallen is a walking "solar panel". What was with with the fallen's neck frill thingy moving? And WHY THE HELL DO TRANSFORMERS NEED MORE THAN ONE THUMB! See long haul and the fallen

I swear that the designers were just thinking " how can we screw up these characters as much as possible without making them too retarded?" i admire them for trying to think outside the box but this is WAY too far. The designs are really hit-and-miss. Good bots would be Prime, Jazz, Ironhide, Jetfire, The Twins, Sideswipe, Jolt [for the whole three seconds we saw him], Ratchet, Bumblebee, and Wheelie. Good 'cons are Starscream, Long Haul, Sideways, Grindor [Ughh painful name], Mixmaster, and Scalpel. I wont go into toy characters but most of them are good. Some just make me want to puke though. {cough, coughRampage}

The alien aspect of the robots never bugged me at all. There's never a design that I didn't like. Except for Devastator's testicles. That was stupid.

Yea. I agree the testicles was stupid. I dunno why they did that on Devastator. It's funny but it doesn't fit to a Transformer at all.

It's not the "non-bipedal" thing that bugs me; in fact, I admire the designers for having the guts to do that (although every other robot having either bird legs or only wheels for feet gets tiresome after a while - I wish they'd come up with new variations)

For me, the three big problems I have are Bay's propensity for robot anatomy so as to set up horribly-misplaced humor (which I like to call Schumacher's Syndrome); the sort of day-glo/neon-type paint jobs that some of the Autobots have - Ratchet's colors I've never been particularly fond of, and inasmuch as I likes me some chickbots, pink has never been on my list of particularly appealing colors for robot warriors; and the "cutesy" designs of the comic-relief characters in ROTF.

Seriously. I was watching the behind the scenes of ROTF and I saw the part when Michael Bay was talking to the special effects crew and how he was mentioning that he wanted to add Devastator's testicles in that scene. He was laughing like he was an 8-year old. I never facepalmed so hard in my life...
