I just noticed this while posting in a topic. Have you noticed that in ROTF, the scene where optimus tells Sam that "fate rarely calls apon us at a moment of our chosing" Did you notice that the BOTH of them are talking in a graveyard? When later in the movie, they both die and are resurected by the matrix at almost the same time!? and they are the two main characters in the movie? Could this be a sighn of symbolism? Is this a coencidence, or did Michael Bay do this on perpous? (dont give 3 craps how to spell it). So I want to know what you think about this. Im probobly the ONLY one who knows about this in the world.

This is one of those things that everyone who liked the movie will see as good directing and everyone who didnt like it will see as coincidence. Now having stated I am biased. Based on certain elements of the first film(Like holding off on the first kiss till it was appropriate.) I think it WAS on purpose.

In some ways, Sam is sort of like the human counterpart to Optimus Prime. If you take into account the origin Prime was given (i.e. an ordinary guy dragged kicking and screaming into a totally unwanted position of prominence), it makes sense. If things had gone just a LITTLE differently, someone else would be in that position and not him. I doubt Prime became top dog because he wanted to...

Yeah, I noticed this too, plus they were both killed by Megatron. They are almost the same things, just one is a little less robotic. Also mabey Sam is a lost decendant of the Primes that they found out how to convert into a human. And thats where the pretenders come from (Alice). Its just a theory. Well, in TF3 we'll find out everything.

That's true, I think the scene at the end where they're standing side by side on the aircraft carrier reflected that.

You're giving that hack Bay too much credit. It was a coincidence. Nothing more.

Are you even willing to consider the possibility that Bay might actually have redeeming qualities? Or are you so set in your ways and opinions that you immediately shut out anything and everything that just might possibly contradict your preconceived notions?

Probably just a nice dose of poetic visuals. Graveyards have a lot of connotations that the audience could pick up.
It provides atmosphere.

But then again, graveyards are often pretty deserted, and Optimus didn't want them to be noticed.

Wow, I hadn't noticed that. Having that conversation take place in a graveyard is a great example of foreshadowing. Subtle, as well. Hmm, this actually renews my once-dwindled respect for the writers.

Goodness, you're right.
Sounds like foreshadowing to me.

Huh? Sorry I was busy ignoring you in favor of my preconceived notions. :P

But seriously. There is a possibility it's foreshadowing. Well less foreshadowing and more bludgeoning you over the head with what's going to happen. Personally I think it was just a coincidence and until there's an interview or commentary to back up the foreshadowing theory it's just that. A theory.

That is exactly the truth. Obviously, my comment will make me a villain because I both did not like the film and I also don't find this scene to be a work of any particular marvelousness, but I really didn't notice it when I saw the movie, and I do have to say that it's a pretty neat working of the scene. However, the most I'm willing to give it in terms of genius is that it's foreshadowing, it's not really symbolic, because even though they both do die, there's not anything specific about a graveyard that symbolizes death. What I mean is, I can see a graveyard from the window of the computer lab I'm sitting in right now, and it does not necessarily equate with my own eventual demise. Yeah, fine, so I'm probably nit-picking the definition of 'smybolism' here, but what do you want, really? I'ma pHd candidate in literature.
Still, neat foreshadowing to be certain, I must say. Maybe it was on purpose.

I think is was likely on purpose as foreshadowing, but it was done geico style. "Even a caveman could do it." I honestly believe there are a lot of people on this site that are smarter, better versed in Transformers backstory, and could have done a far more interesting AND involving job with the material than what was presented in RoTF. It was slapped together like an afterthought all the way til the end, and it is ridiculous even if there were time constraints. I was disappointed. HOWEVER, I still enjoyed watching the movie. I bought it and will guarantee that I will sit down and watch it again numerous times. Even if the film as a whole was underpowered, there is no doubt that it had a few moments that really kicked ass.
