Soundtrack.net has posted an interesting article on the recording of the score for this summer's Transformers Movie. The article contains many interesting tidbits of information about composer Steve Jablonsky and the music for the film, including a mention of a possible remake of the original theme to be played during the end credits.

Read the article and see the many photos for yourselves here

Well I feared the original theme wouldn't make it into the movie as part of the cinematic experience. Well that sucks.

Note that it's always a great idea to get people involved who aren't fans of the franchise as well as being a professional in the industry who knows how to blend a hard hitting experience with some nostalgic factor to it.

I'm sure it will be a killer action film score, but I am upset that they didn't even put and subtle bits of the theme into the mix. the song isn't THAT corny. I've heard some great arrangements of that music that would go well within a score where they could just throw bits into it to keep it that true Transformers feel.

Oh well.... I'll just hope for the best. I guess the fact that the composer is at least thinking of an arrangement for the end credits is better than nothing at all.

maybe in the sequel, the autobots will be known around the world because of the first movie's events and there will be an animated series within the movie and they can place the theme there..lol

but other than that, i can see why it isnt in the actual movie and i'm glad it isnt, i dont think it would really gel with the style the movie is going for and would stick out.....though an end credit/soundtrack thing is a cool idea and thats what i always figured what would happen...

guess they could always get that asian chick with the violin from spiderman and have her in a crowd scene playing it :P

That was a great report/picture gallery! I'm glad that two CDs are in the works. A new version of the classic theme anywhere in the film (including the end credits) would rock! I hope they release sheet music as well.

Very disappointing that they went with Jablonsky. Listening through things that he has done (Steamboy?, Chainsaw, etc) and it's not all that impressive, even predictable. It's hard to tell on The Island, since he was teamming with other composers, so you cannot tell what he had a hand in. Hopefully he can pull it off, but cautiously optimistic is even streaching it at this point.

Sounds cool, But composing a remake of the original theme to be played during the end credits!? No thank you! I want the original G1 theme just like the Spiderman theme was played in the first SP credits

i like that orginal might not be inthe soundtrack of this film but could be remade this new look for transformers so the film needs new music how would the fans feel if they heard the song the touch in a scene where spike first meets bumblebee when he transforms into robot mode?

I would like to have the original theme for the movie but only if its going to remade like they did with the opening the animated film that would be intersting here and to fit the style of the way this film looks.

They left the recording of the soundtrack until very late in the post production phase. If the recording was done last month, then hopefully it has been fully incorporated into the film and the editing is finally over.

Whoever was in charge of sound during Post production likes leaving things till the very last, the Voice actors were called into the piece very late as well.

Didn't Don Murphy or Tom DeSantos or SOMEONE say that they'd "have to be retarded" to leave out the original theme? Putting it at the end might as well be leaving it out.

OK, so far this album is gonna suck, and that's great!

Follow me here, Last Action Hero, Armagedon Judgement Night, Singles, and countless others, god aweful movies, great soundtracks.

Spider-Man, RatRace, Clerks, The Big Lebowski, Fight Club, Tank-Girl and so on, great movies, suck a$$ tunes.

My point, good sound track=bad movie, where as bad sound track=good movie.

Oh there might be two albums one with songs the other with the score

It would be a tragedy if the origional music wasn't incorporated somehow

I can't say I can exactly agree with the logic here, though I do understand it.

I believe that it is mentioned as such ("a possibility") in the report.

I think it would be hilarious if Spike were to get into Bumblebee and then before they ride off to meet with the TFormers he says, "I think we need some music." and 'The Touch' comes on briefly and then he says, "Ew god no!" and changes it.

That would be a hilarious little homage.

It would, though I would hate to hear the song bashed yet again. Though, it would make me laugh...
