Ack ... I totally glanced over that line. This is the official announcement from Paramount stating that the movie will be released July 3rd! I just changed the news article's title and made this breaking news.

Ok, back to the Megatron gallery I go ...

Leave it to Hollywood to figure out how to "transform" the 2 day weekend into a 6 day weekend. Ah hah. Get it? Eh ... ok, I'm really going back to working on Leader Class Megatron's gallery now.

A Tuesday release date. Pullin' a Lucas here. Could work out well. Although I'm pretty sure a lot of the other movie companies are gonna be pissed about the change. Last I heard they had to figure out where to put FF4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer, and a few others so they wouldn't all go head to head.

Every time I think I'm really cynical, the bar is somehow raised.

This change won't increase its opening weekend take. Weekends only count over the--get this--weekend, with Monday holidays occassionally included.

ex: Pirates 3 opened early, but look at its totals: http://www.imdb.com/chart/. The early few days did not count toward the opening weekend.

I think I'm going to pass on watching the trailers. By now, I know enough. I don't want to watch any more of the movie before I watch it.

Most likely this move is because of recent news that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is now opening on July 11th, which will cut into Transformers' profits. I found the Potter info here:

DAMMIT.

I went and requested time off at work specifically for a July 4th opening. Now I have to go and change my requests, which they will NOT be pleased about. THANKS, Paramount, for NOTHING.
