Rumours of the the possibility of James Avery, known as Uncle Phil from "Fresh Prince of Bell Air", or the Shredder from the first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon", being cast as the voice actor for Silverbolt in the next Transformers movie instalment have been kicking around for a while now, but they have now been confirmed as true. This confirmation has been given to disprove a different more morbid rumour, the rumour of James Avery being dead. So one of his representatives had this to say:
James Avery is doing great and will assume the voice role of "Silverbolt" in the upcoming blockbuster Transformers 3.

Now the next question: will Silverbolt be flying solo or will he be accompanied by the Aerialbots? (Assuming this rumor is legit)

wow.... I really like James Avery, and since I have been watching a lot of Fresh Prince lately I can really see him as Silverbolt. TF3 better be good!

Great picture. My wife said that it looks like someone surprised him coming out of the bathroom or something. I did like Fresh Prince and he has a good voice for Silverbolt. Interesting how everyone is assuming he will be an airplane...remember the rumor about dinobots? Why can he not be a beast? Just keep your eyes open...the Silverbolt character from Beast Wars was far deeper than the Aerialbot, and more recent so they may go in that direction, too. Just a thought...

let's hope he has more than 2 lines.

it seems all the new robots they introduce barely have screentime and they always focus on the same 4 or 5. remember the big hoopla about Sideswipe and Jolt and that deception who's name i dont remember but dies 5 seconds after he's introduced in the beginning of ROTF?

i'm all for showing other robots but man, give them some actual presence and time. why waste whatever time and effort it takes to design the robots and how they transform only to have them be there in a blink and you'll miss cameo you know?

i understand Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron having most of the screentime but give the others a chance. hell even Starscream is getting shortchanged, it was a much appreciated improvement in ROTF but yeah.

Uncle Phil: Vivian!!
Aunt Vivian: Phillip!!
Uncle Phil: Vivian!!
Will: WILMAAAA!!!!

Awesome news. Grew up watching James Avery play uncle Phil. Fresh Prince every Tuesday. 18:00. BBC2. Glad to hear he's playing Silverbolt as he's always been one of my favorites. My mum always thought that he did Primal's voice in Beast Wars.

I couldn't agree more. It's one of the reasons I'm not a fan of the live action movies. Ironhide and Ratchet had smaller roles in RoTF and even Prime and Bumblebee have taken back seats to Shia LaBeouf. Don't have a problem with LaBeouf. I think he's damn good actor, but the movie is not called 'SAM WITWICKY', is it?

I dig this news a lot! He's definitely got a good voice, even with tuning added it's a great base voice, I hope they don't do too much to it
