What Oscars is Transformers likely to compete for?

I know that SFX is pretty much a given and Bay might actually be in the running for best director even though they are loathe to give that to action movie directors.

I'm mainly wondering what category could Cullen Get nominated in, because frankly he is going to need to carry the movie (it all depends on how believable the Bot's are, the whole damn film and Cullen gets the most lines... if the movie "works" the credit will belong mainly to Peter Cullen).

I don't think there is a best Voice actor category.

I believe there is a "Best Sound Editing" award to win. Since Bay did say they were using the guys who did King Kong, yeah maybe a chance.

Special effects and sound effects, if that.

Bay will never get a nomination for best director. Not for this one, not ever.

Yeah. Just like Dances with Wolves, The Silence of the Lambs, Unforgiven, Schindler's List, Forrest Gump, Braveheart, The English Patient, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, American Beauty, Traffic, A Beautiful Mind, The Pianist, LOTR: Return of the King, Million Dollar Baby, and Brokeback Mountain all won their director's the "Best Director" award.

Michael Bay will never win or even be nominated for an Oscar because he makes Michael Bay films and most of the people selected to vote either hate his films or him personally.

Ya know. Reading those movies off I noticed that I only liked two of them. I hate morals and drama in movies.

Transformers is definatley going to win most awesome movie ever award at the oscars ... im just kidding, in all seriousness though , i think it will be a strong contender for best picture (considering the weak points to spiderman and such) , and no one will top it fx wise

Nope. There's no category at the Oscars for voice actors.

Even if this movie breaks all records it won't get any major nominations

The only ones to get noticed are usually the artsy crappy movies

As much as I'd love to see Cullen win an award, no matter how great a job he does, if Andy Serkis didn't get a nod for Gollum in Two Towers, a CG enhanced performance never will.

Two other possible categories could be Best Score and Best Original Song, since Fiction was wrriten for the movie. Both probably depend on how strong the rest of the field is this year. If the MTV Movie Awards clip is any indication, the score should be good. Good enough to win an Oscar? Hard to say, until we hear more.

Acting awards... well, I think Shia will win an Oscar in his career, but probably not for this. Noms for movies like that aren't unheard of(see Sparrow, Captain Jack or Kenobi, Obi Wan) but I don't see that sort of potential here.

And let's face it... just because it's based on a toy line, this movie would have to blow Citizen Kane out of the water just to get the Nominating Committee to even watch it for Director or Best Picture consideration.
