Shia Lebeouf's accident happened when he was out drunk driving. It was not part of the film shoot. So unless you're gonna say Michael Bay gave him the booze, the blame for that one ends with Shia.
As for the current accident, it is unfortunate when these things happen and hopefully the woman comes out alright.
Incorrect. Shia was not intoxicated during the accident. He refused a breathalyzer and I believe a blood test, but the cops concluded that he was not under the influence of anything. There were no drugs and no alcohol involved.
As he was driving his cast mate Isabel Lucas (Alice) home, a man ran the red light at the intersection he was traveling through, t-boned Shia's pickup and because his arm was hanging out the window like many drivers do, his hand was crushed by the truck rolling over due to the impact.
The accident was not Shia's fault. He was fined, I believe, for being uncooperative with the police by denying them the breathalyzer.
This accident? On set. This one very well could be Bay's fault. From what I read (and I admit, I haven't checked since this first broke), she was an extra who wasn't even supposed to be part of the stunt but they included her in the scene anyway.
The liability, lies with the filmmakers. I hope she survives and with no long term or permanent affects.
