The TV Spot for the Pontiac Solstice with Jazz and Megan Fox had the movie rated PG-13

If that's the case, they're pushing it to the limit, aren't they?

The MPAA originally slapped it with an R rating. Then Spielberg worked his magic and they allowed it to get the PG-13, or so I'm told.

It's rated, but the TV spots and such were probably made prior to the actual rating taking place.
Either way I don't believe it will hurt the film.

unfortunately, you were told by someone deluded enough to trust information from shia lebeouf, who told that little story months before tf was ever brought before a ratings board. it turned out to actually be about disturbia.

Spielberg had nothing to do with disturbia so why would he be the one that shia says got the rating lowered? How do you know exactly when it was brought before the board?

Because Spielberg was a producer for it.

How would a twelve-year-old like yourself get into a rated-R movie?

Don't worry it hasn't gotten a classificaton here yet either. Im hoping that it gets the nice treatment, but you don't know what the OFLC (Aussie censorship board) is feeling so I think it depends on what mood they are in that day. The games have already been classified though.

Does it really matter?

According to the IMDB, Spielberg is an executive producer, (yet uncredited) for Disturbia.
The R rating for Disturbia seems more likely, than it does TransFormers.
There's bloody scenes in Disturbia, and as far as I know, there's none in TFTM.
In fact, after reading the script three times (and yes, I know, stuff has changed since, but not drastically) and the fact that Bay said this is more of a family movie for him...I seriously doubt he went into this with an R-rated mind.
Hell, Armageddon was PG-13 and it was far more intense than TransFormers will be. Death, doom, impending destruction, loads of foul language (in the censor's minds, that is), sexual situations...and it still received a PG-13.
TransFormers is definitely aimed at a different audience, and most certainly won't be an R rated film, I have high doubts it ever received a preliminary R either.
It's possible, but improbable.

apparantly spielberg brough a clip to the rating people and they rated it R cuz of the intense violence. but afterwards he was able to get it down to pg-13. the movie will be pg-13 as it wants to get all ages to see it as younger kids are interested in it as much as us older folks are.

Just because this person doesn't type perfectly doesn't make them a twelve-year old.
You are the one going out of your way to single him out.
To me that just screams immaturity.

It's apocalyptic, I tells ya!
Abrogate 7:23:
"And the boards will erupt is a sea of flame. FanBoy X, and his sidekick Terrorscream, will arise from the Earth--Er, coding--And reign as King of the Geeks for a Thousand Years. Seibertron.com will become desolate, and the skies--Background, I mean--will become as if muddled coal. The banner will burn, and the text will become illegible and poorly spelt."
See what I did there? Do ANY of you know who Abrogate, FanBoy X, and Terrorscream are?
