There is an interesting plot speculation on the web. Of course nothing official but be advised that it may contain major spoilers. Here it is:

"Optimus Prime and the Autobots have become public figures. The humans do not trust them and, because of that, in addition to the Decepticon's apparent departure from planet Earth, N.E.S.T. is deactivated by the government.

The Decepticons, led by Megatron, regroup on the dark side of the Moon. Megatron plans to launch a full-scale attack against Earth to get revenge against the Autobots and the humans for past humilliations.

Sam Witwicky and Léo Spitz have graduated in college and get their first jobs. Sam also starts a relationship with Carly Simms, the personal assistant of a famous race car driver called Dylan.

Seymor Simmons has become rich by writing books about his experiences with Sector Seven.

Meanwhile, in Cybertron, Megatron's former battle strategist, Shockwave, has taken control of the Decepticon army and heads to Earth in search of something found by the americans on the Moon during the Cold War, which played a major part on the Space Race.

Shockwave and his Decepticons start a massive series of attacks on Earth, pinning the blame on the Autobots in order to drive them out of Earth and garantee that they won't interfere. Shockwave also makes sure that Megatron and the Decepticons still loyal to him won't get in his way.

The Autobots become public enemies, but N.E.S.T. still believes in their innocence. Led by Major William Lennox, Master Sargeant Robert Epps and Hardcore Eddie, a former combat buddy of Epp's father, N.E.S.T. decides to go against the government's orders and help the Autobots.

Fully aware of the threat represented by the Transformers, the government creates a program to weaponize Earth vehicles and turn them into weapons, which apparently gives birth to the Wreckers, a team of NASCAR cars whom later join the Autobots.

Sam, Carly, Léo, Simmons and Dylan are all dragged into the new battle, but, unlike the others, Dylan decides to betray Earth in order to garantee his own survival and try to scurry a way into the Decepticon ranks by helping them retreive the mysterious object Shockwave seeks for."

could be accurate if true I wonder if shockwave's troops will be new characters or just generics I'm hoping to see Overcast as one of Shockwave's troops even if he's not named

Well, sounds about right from all the stills and updates. If true, my favorite part is the fact that Megatron and Shockwave will be enemies. If the filmmakers produce a formidable Shockwave, I'd like to see those 2 duke it out. And if true about the film title, this would give a literal and figurative meaning to "Dark of the moon" or "Dark Side of the Moon" whichever they end up using. This also explains the expensive car Simmons drives. No way he got that on a government salary. And if I remember correctly, Dylan and Sam do have a fight of sorts in the movie, so i think this detail about his character is accurate, if true.

The only thing I didn't realy like is the Wreckers being of Earth origin. A government experiment. Dumb. They sould just be Autobots, staying true to the original characters.

Now I just hope to get at least a decent Shockwave toy out of the line.

I hope this isn't what it's really about, it all seems just so very ... blah.

I like it. But IDK about Megatron and Shockwave being enemies. If any Decepticons should be fighting eachother, its Megatron and Starscream. That would be the most epic battleof all time. Besides Unicron VS Primus of course.

This actually seems kinda legit...although Cybertron is destroyed, so Shockwave can't be on it this whole time, but he could just as easily be in space somewhere...

A fight between Megatron and Shockwave would be much more fun than a fight between Megatron and Starscream. Unless Megatron is crippled, he'd bitch slap Starscream in less than 30 seconds. Starscream could come up with a good backstabbing plan, but as far as a straight up physical confrontation, it would be much more entertaining and longer if Shockwave and Megatron went at it.

This seems accurate to me also it explains the Wreckers and were they came from.

Also it explains the Moon in the Title sort of reminds of Generation 1 were Megatron used the moon for his base.

It seems likely that Megs & Shockwave will be enemies could be 2 factions of decipticons remember this is the movie-verse nothing like the cartoon verse only things they share in common are there names thier personalities looks and everything are completly diffrent but they do use some aspects from the cartoon series.

The Part about Dylan betraying them seems right I seen a pic of Dylan pointing a gun at Sam so this explains that part.

Looks like the goverment might have had some sort of Allspark fragments hidden away from the Autobots how else could they have created the Wreckers.

Remember the Goverment lies and hides away secrets so they could also have hidden cybertonian tech remember they had NBE 1 aka Megs locked away for years also the Allspark there is no telling what the goverment took from that and hidden away.

Could this thing Shockwave be looking for be: The Key to Vector Sigma

Remember Megs is suppose to die in TF 3 so he could be destroyed by Shockwave then it will be Optimus vs. Shockwave.

I cant wait for this movie. Shockwave and Megatron need to have an epic battle ending with Megatron getting killed by Starscream that joins the fight to back-stab Megs. Thats how I would write it.
Oh, and kill off Optimus and have him stay dead. That way if another directer takes over and dosnt re-boot we can have Rodimus Prime. Imagine a leader class fig for that.

I think I know what Shockwave is looking for on the Moon. It is the Key to Vector Sigma.

On why he needs it unknown also unknown what This Key does or is needed for also dont expect this key to be anything like G1's Key.

Like with the Matrix of Leadership expect a facelift and diffrent use.

Or it could remain G1'inish and Shockwave can use it to transform Earth into a new Cybertron.

to dark rodimus, i think they should at least have "Hot Rod" in the films. They have already killed off optimus once. I doubt we will see him die in the third film. It would be highly unlikley

Just playing devil's advocate here, but did it occur to you guys that this synopsis seems to explain most of the images we've seen because it is based on those images? I could say Sam turns evil and tries to betray Earth, and Dylan tries to stop him, and the image we have of Dylan pointing a gun at Sam would support this.

And how would finding something on the moon influence the space race? The US had already won the space race at that point.

But considering it may be genuine, the weaponizing of the Wreckers could easily be attributed to the technology Sector Seven derived from studying Megatron. If you recall, in TF1 it was explained that all US advanced technology such as lasers etc were discovered this way. Although if any drone vehicles are to be government created I would expect it to be the Dreads. Why the hell would they weaponize Nascars? Everyone knows the feds drive black SUVs.

Whoa, whoa... Hold your horses!

Where do you take that Cybertron is DESTROYED? It was said to have been ravaged and consumed by Death, And that "With the AllSpark destroyed, they cannot return life to their planet." Meaning, it had only a major Population downfall, not destruction. Plus they needed to use The Cube to recreate life(or just keep away from Megatron, no matter the cost).

It's extremely possible that the government would have their own set of transformers. In the first movie, Agent Simmons demonstrated what the Allspark could do. So it's not like the government didn't know that they could use the power from the Allspark and make their own set of transformers.

Murgh. This depends on how much you consider IDW Bayverse canon to be part of...Bayverse canon. ROS shows Cybertron still alive (kind of) and at war. And the humans were experimenting with Wreckage (Planetfall) to make viable drones. So, they both already exist, technically in bay!canon.

Don't like the idea of the Decepticons working with a human, hopefully they kill him after they get what they need.

it's not the first time the Decepticons have "allied" themselves with a human. They did it a couple of times in G1, though they were quick to discard them once they had no further use of them.

It wouldn't be so much working with humans as it would be using them to their own ends, and as has been said disposing of them after they are no longer useful.

Basically, yes, first they try to ally you and co-operate with you, but as soon as you've done your part, they'll dump and doublecross you like yesterday's battery.

Primus, that should so-o happen to Galloway.

So what actor is playing Dylan if this is true?

Patrick Dempsey is playing Dylan (Sam's boss). But hey guys don't rely too much on that rumor. This is just a pure speculation that I've read a month ago about the plot. It's really based on what we've seen so far on the set.
I'm surprised that this thread is resurrected after so much time. Don't take it too seriously.

Depends on which shockwave you grew up with. G1 Shockwave wasn't a psycho, neither was Animated. In Energon there was a character named Shockwave, but he wasn't really an incarnation of a Decepticon leader. I guess he was a bit insane. But the best Shockwave, G1 comics (Marvel and DW) Shockwave, was not psycho. Power hungry, determined, and ruthless, yes. Not crazy. I'm hoping for that Shockwave.
