Here is something like a visual confirmation of who is who of some of the new characters we've seen on set so far (not confirmed):
HOT ROD
PAYLOAD
SENTINEL PRIME
SHOCKWAVE
ULTRA MAGNUS
WHEELJACK

Hmm. Enteresting. Though didn't someone say that the Fire engine was going to be Sentinel prime? And i "think" the mad Max truck is a decepticon. Though the visual simularites you point out do suggest who they might turn out to be.

The guy who said that the fire truck is Sentinel Prime was a security guard at the autobot parking lot in Chicago. At that time both of the trucks were there so I guess it's pretty probable that he mistook which truck exactly is Sentinel Prime. And the more rusty and old look of the Mack truck obviously sutes more Sentinel Prime than the fire truck.

I really hope the red Ferrari is Hot Rod. Does Hasbro still have the rights to that name, though?

I was hoping for UM's vehicle to be an Animated reference as well, I wasn't even expecting him in the movie so I'd picked(for a comic or something) the one the TFwiki links to.
I never saw the pic of the Ferrari's face, could be Hot Rod, as long as it is, I won't mind, just as long as it's not Rodimus, I hated Hot Rod's "upgraded" form.
WheelJack I see as a bad interpretation of the character, and probably the first time I've even cared about G1 accuracy in the movies.
Also, Sentinel Prime'd be a good choice for the truck but I guess they'd have to explain him being hidden from The Fallen or something but still, could work.
Plus, an alt-mode that tough looking on an Autobot=awesome.

I think the Mercedes-Benz is Jolt because of the color.

It was officially confirmed that the blue Mercedes and the Einstein bot are one thing and it's not Jolt.

Oh ok I didn't know that. Some people have been just calling it Jolt on their YouTube videos. It sucks that Jolt did like nothing in ROTF with all the hype about him and now they just take him out of the third movie altogether like they did with Barricade.

The Chevy Volt was scheduled to make an appearance at the DC shoot next week. There is a rumor that he gets killed in the movie. We'll see if that's true in 3 days. If he doesn't make it for the movie it will be a big waste of already developed great design and appearance.

And how about Clifjumper being the red Ferrari. Here is a comparison with Clifjumper from "Prime" and the red head from Chicago.

So you consider that G1 character to be SENTINEL PRIME?

Cliffjumper or Hot Rod would be cool. I'd actually like to see either one in the movie.

Cliffjumper was a comic series movie character, and was quickly killed off. This is why most of us assume the Ferrari 458 Italia is Hot Rod/Rodimus.
If you don't know who movie Cliffjumper is, look him up in the galleries. He is, of course, a red redeco of Bumblebee in all of his toys.

I see. I haven't read the comic series for the movie.

In the Movie-verse Optimus IS the last prime, so no Sentinel for that reason.

Well one might have existed , as sam mentions his name in his all spark induced rant during ROTF. I doubt we'll see one in the film though.

I'm wondering how they can't name their character Hot Rod. That's a pretty common term.

Agreed since Optimus is the last all it would do is make ROTF look kinda...glitchy, I'm hoping for a new character myself.

if it is indeed Hot Rod, maybe they can bring the name back like they did with bumblebee. it's time to get all the trademarks back. like how Bluestreak is back for speedstars.

another company had held the trademark on the name bumblebee.
for several years leading up to movie one.
that first movie bumblebee was the first one in almost ten years.
I icked that tidbit up from TFwiki or somewhere... it might just be speculation but it makes sense. seeing as there wasn't a bumblebee toy for close to ten years.

I question your conclision since your basic info is incorrect.
Theres never been a 10 year span with out a "Bumblebee" release from Hasbro.
Movie Bumblebee wasnt released till 2007...but before then there was a BB in 95,02 and two in 06

The current rights owner of the name is "HotRod Magazine".
To use the name on a toy Hasbro is going to have to pay.
