IDW Publishing has released their publishing plans for the next months. Here is the thread over to the comic book forum:

The most interesting part is the cover of one of the comic books scheduled to be released on January 2011. It's called "Transformers: Rising Storm". And guess who is on the cover?



Yep it's Shockwave. We can be pretty sure that the movie version of Shockwave will be pretty close to that design if not the same. It's not the first time that IDW try to hide the look of a Transformer that will spoil the feature film released on July.
IMO the design is great. I like his oversized weapons, especially the cannon which may be something like a plasma gun. And he has a melee weapon so I guess we'll have some nice close encounters.

Shockwave for sure! The horns on his head are directed almost the same way like on that cardboard we've seen in Chicago. Looks more bulkier than Megatron and Starscream. Can't wait to see some leaked concept arts

Yes it is Shockwave. Here is the synopsis of the book:
"Megatron has been on the run since Optimus Prime defeated the Fallen... But now a new player has arrived on Earth, and he's not taking prisoners! Fan-favorite SHOCKWAVE enters the scene in a major way, just in time for his role in TRANSFORMERS 3!"

ShockWave has a Black repaint named ..what does it say? CLASSIF..IED....

Anyhow, I like how the design looks...so far since I can't see much.

Yeah, he still has 1 eye, it was in another of the threads. And I do like the look of this one. The big gun-arm, and looks like a shield or another melee weapon on his other arm. WIN. I hope they don't ruin the character. Some data-spouting is alright, but he needs to be a badass.

Totally agree. He needs to be badass, plain and simple.

I like his upper body silhoutte, but I was expecting a more alien-looking lower-body. Let me explain:

I think he would look more menacing with a 3 or 4-legged body, resembling the giant long-legged alien machines from "War of the Worlds". That's how I imagine an emotionless giant alien robot sent to Earth to eradicate the human species - Megatron's ultimate revenge.

The "humanoid" body is bad ass and seems to pay a fair homage to the G1 design, no doubt. But I would like to see him depict as an almost apocalyptic creature.

I also hope he is really big compared to the other TFs, big enough to become a Supreme-class toy.

i really hope this doesn't get botched really bad. Shockwave is such a wicked character

Looks interesting. So Shocks is gonna challenge Megatron for the leadership, like the g1 comics, rather than be Megatrons gimp on Cybertron like the g1 cartoon... or Unicrons herald?

can't wait for infestation dark of the moon not so much. still I want to see what Shockwave looks like and how much more my childhood will be raped

Infestation looks like the gimmick to end all gimmicks...im VERY interested in it. I LOVE zombies so lets see, lotta continuities to tie up there .

Def excited to see Shockwave brought to the forefront of this battle. One eye thank god but will it flash as he talks. Only time will tell.

I told you that there would be a power battle between Megs and Shockwave they are also 2 teams of decipticons one under Megs and one under Shockwave.

I also suspect that Shockwave will kill Megs cause it has been in confirmed reports that Megatron would indeed be destroyed for good in TF 3.

But I dont think this will happen until late in the end of the movie in a big battle scene.

Megs v Shockwave fight to the death would be pretty cool.

If there are two teams i wonder who will be of each side. Will Starscream stick with megs or go with schockwave.

Movie-verse Starscream is way diffrent than G1 counterpart as this Starscream is more wussified than G1 was as in G1 he was powermad and wanted all power for himself and basically take over as leader.

My favorite version of Starscream was in Armada & Cybertron as I hated Energon Starscream he was Bad-Ass in Cybertron and in Armada he was conflicted torn between protecting the humans or serving Galvatron.

With Movie-verse it will be interesting to see which way Starscream will flow to Megatron or will he go to Shockwave or will Starscream outwit them and take over.

Starscream's promblem he is smart but he dosent know how to use his smarts or the right time to use it. He has the firepower and the fighting abilities but not the smarts thats why he is always 2nd best.

I guess we wait for 10 more months and see what Happens with Megs, Starscream & Shockwave it will be interesting to see how this all plays out on the screen and ultimatly ends.

Yesh! Shockwave is IN! (Most likely, judging from pic.) I was worried he wouldn't make it into the movie. ^^; *Crosses fingers for good luck.*

Really? 0.0 Sorry for my ignorance, it's just that I'm a relativly new Transformers fan, and I just started skimming for details on the third movie. ^^; But now I'm pumped for this movie! ^_^

Ah, I see. Thank you. ^_^ Shockwave is my favorite Transformer so far. I'm glad he's making such a big appearance. Hope he's in the Prime series too. ^_^

If you are wondering about the power struggle between Megatron & Shockwave on how it is going to play out I can give you a certain point of view regarding it.

If you watched TF-Cybertron you would remember the power struggle between Megs & Starscream think similar along those lines also like in Cybertron Starscream had his own allies so in TF 3 suspect the same for Shockwave to have his own allies also sense he is coming from Cybertron so it makes sense for him to have his own men.

I cant wait to see how this play out in TF 3 the more i hear on this movie the more I want it.

2 awesome movies back to back next year with X-Men 1st Class and then TF 3.

Next year is geek heaven for me from Thor, Captain America and Green Latern now all I need is my Silver Surfer movie.

Hopefully Shockwave's personality will be more like in the comics, where he and Megatron went at each other repeatedly. I have hope that it will be the same way in TF3. It was much more intense than Megatron and Starscream from Cybertron.
