Michael Bay Talks Transformers 3, 4 and 5?

As mentioned before, the actors of the Transformers Movie for this summer have signed on 3 movies. But it apparently doesn't end at 3 movies if it's up to Michael Bay...

According to GrendelKahn from Clantsu.org, Michael Bay told the press at the Koren Press Conference for the World Premier Pictures, that if Transformers 1, 2 and 3 are a succes, they would do a fourth and fifth movie as well!

Note that this is a fairly new source and therefor we have listed this as a rumor for now.

Mr. Bay sure does have a lot of faith in the first one to be thinking of making another 4 transformers movies.

....Only time can tell, but I think it can make it their.

Hmmm, I think all 3 movies will be a huge succes. (probably the 3rd movie will be the best at the box office) But I'm not sure what to think about even more movies. Just like Spiderman and Shrek ....

Everyone these days is sequel happy. Didn't we all learn a lesson from the original Batman movies? Keep it simple Michael. Let's not introduce 17 new Decepticons and Autobots in one movie and forget about plot and story....please.

I would expect this comment. They want this to be a runaway franchise just like Sony and Marvel want Spiderman to be a runaway franchise. Think about how much work has gone into setting up the movie as it is. We've been following the movie's development since 2003 ... just imagine someone like Tom DeSanto who has been working on the Transformers movie concept for 5, 6 or maybe even 7 years already. There's a lot of time and money that has gone into just the first movie, so I'm not surprised at all to see them want to make a multi-movie franchise out of Transformers. Good luck to them!

Trilogies aren't all that bad. I approve of the original Alien one, Spider-Man and Star Wars. But I can see this will share the same fate of any sequel franchise, the director will get changed and **** up the film (so says the audience) don't believe me? Ask the ones who hated Return of the The Jedi and X3.

well, i'm not objected to the idea, but it is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too early in the game to make desicions like that.

I'd dont think that there should be 5. Keep it at 3 or 4 than make a TV show. Otherwise its going to be the next Star Wars or Aliens. The first 3 were great but the ones after were just OK. Hell for all we know there might not even be a third movie. And what if Bay gets kicked and a new director is used? Its never a good idea to look that far ahead without know what the begining holds instore.

Well I think Bay has always had the intention to not be selling toys. So he won't add characters if he doesn't need them... but money talks

it will make it there because of the fans. if we enjoy the movie and they do good at the box office and all that stuff, then we will definitely see atleast 5..hopefully. i wont see much use of the humans after a couple movies, so it better all be more robot ass whooping.

I like the #3. Keep it a trilogy. After that it just seems like it's only about the money. I hate 4th's and 5th's.

While a trilogy would be best, 4 and 5 are possible if the sequels (should they arise) do well enough. Just as long as they do them right and they are enjoyable.

Also I have to agree with a previous comment on the characters. Adding only a few characters at a time would be best to avoid the character development problems G1 had.

No, no, no hell no. No TV show. Sci-fi TV shows are where decent (or mediocre) Sci-fi movie franchises go to get drunk & strongly remind everybody within shouting distance of how they used to be a contender. I say make their movies & then have the movie franchise go the way of Elvis or Kobain & END IT.

I just think it's sad/funny how a one-liner off the cuff comment can be taken so ridiculously out of context. Bay saying that if 2 & 3 do well - which aren't even confirmed at this point - that he'd probably want to do 4 & 5 as well is NOT him "talking" about anything. He's stating the obvious. Every studio/director/writer/etc. hopes that they can turn their work into a career spanning franchise - it doesn't mean it will happen or that there are even concrete plans to do so. And as we know, most franchises never pass 3 movies, and when they do, they usually just keep going downhill anyway.

As long as the money keeps rolling in and the decent, exciting storylines keep rolling out (so to speak) they can make it a dodecilogy for all I care. I'm just happy to see so many folk at work with TF stuff in their trolleys and baskets- long may it continue!

Guys, James Bond is on part 23 or 24, suffered numerous cast and crew changes over the years and still 75% of them are great.

(Goldeneye being the last good bond film, I haven't seen Casino Royale yet)
