Internet auto magazine Eurotuner has posted an article detailing the modifications it took to transform a stock Mercedes-Benz E550 into the Autobot they refer to as "Q" for Transformers: DOTM. According to the article director Michael Bay enlisted the help of Claus Ettensberger of CEC to fine tune the design. CEC is known for their accessories, customizing, and tuning of luxury automobiles.

The modifications include:

A new custom blue paint job (chosen by Bay)

A custom aerodynamic kit

A new custom exhaust system

Replacement CEC C725 forged wheels

Probably more accurate to say that this MIGHT be a close approximation to the G1 role that was defined by the character of Wheeljack. This is my hope anyway but there is absolutely no evidence yet to support ANY kind of connection between this "Q" and the James Bond "Q". Hell, Star Trek: TNG had a "Q" for that fact.
It would be cool to see a character loosely based on a mix of the Bond Q and Wheeljack and it would be beyond Epic to have it voiced by John Cleese. Not a rats chance ANY of it would ever happen but fun to ponder on the idea.

With our luck, the Q moniker for this character was just a fun 'placeholder' until they made a final determination of what its real name would be so I most certainly would not read anything special into this. We already know that there is absolutely zero relation to anything G1 outside of the recycling of some of the names as far as the movies go. Most of the connections made are what fans are forcing themselves to see or read into stuff that doesn't really exist anyways.

Thats not really fair. Because someone see's referances that you don't, or you just don't agree with doesn't mean there aren't nessasarly there. And even if a few conections are far stretched, so what? If it lets some people sleep better at night than let them have there fun.

Anyhow, i like the Benz. Very clean and classy. Funny though we haven't seen any toys of the Benz as of yet. Wondering if there was some sort of licencing problem (simular to Audi in ROTF) or he'll just be part of the second wave.

I like the fact that a 'German' character (and 'Italian', including the Ferrari) is on the hero-side in a Hollywood film for once! Haha

Anyway, regarding the moniker 'Q', I'm willing to bet that his name will be something else and he will be nicknamed 'Q'...Most likely by the humans/NEST if he provides the 'Mech-Tech' upgrades and such, of course referencing Bond. (It'd be amazing if this theory was proven true! I think it's fairly logical, anyway!)

(It's a bit like Brawl, really...I still see it as; he called himself 'Devastator' because he prefers it! My belief and I'm sticking with it!)
