The Vector Sigma and it's key are taken from Sentinel Prime (It's guardian) by astronauts from the moon landing. Sentinel awakens from stasis later on and detects it's being coming from earth. So he travels to our planet to find it before the Decepticons can use it to turn the planet into a new Cybertron.

Advances in Nuclear tech,Allspark Shard studies and the re-warehousing of the old sector7 stuff result in an attempt to reactivate it.
Sentinel,hardwired to come on line as soon as the key is tampered with, does so immediately, and Shockwave picks up the recharged Keys' pings at the same time?
