No definitely not the tentacled con. Im pretty certain the tentacled con is depicted in the transformers movie comics. It shows a worm like tentacled creature on cybertron attacking hatchlings. Shockwave was awed by the creatured and thought it was magnificent. So I think shockwave or megatron learned to control this worm.

I actually thought that it was a an in an cybertronian train mode(rail racer) or it could be a con in a cybertronian train mode ( astro train)

The text on the image says that it's ROTF concept art for a "Insecticon Collective".
Kinda glad that wasn't used.
