Director Michael Bay recently dropped by his own Shoot for the Edit forums and chimed in on a discussion about the possible identity of the silver Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Some fans have speculated this may be Soundwave's earth mode based on clues from the game trailers and comics. This is what he had to say:

As you can see Bay indicates the Mercedes isn't a Transformer at all, but just a regular car driven by Carly. Shoot for the Edit site admin nelson then had this to say on the matter:

Willing to bet they will make a transformer toy out of it though. They did that to several human vehicles in the first movie...and probably the second movie too.

In an American movie about alien robots who transform into all-sorts of vehicles it seems quite pointless to have such a flash German sports car take on essentially a background role. Maybe it'll start out lifeless and then become an Autobot or some kind of good Decepticon.

Just because it is Carly's car doesn't mean it isn't a Cybertronian. Legally, Bumblebee is Sam's car. I too noticed the bad Decepticon part. Could we possibly be getting a Movieverse Drift? Even if it is toyline only that would be cool.

Isn't Michael Bay known for feeding us false information without actually lying to us?
