Why was everyone against having Arcee in the movie?

I read on Wikipedia that Arcee was pulled from the movie and replaced by Ironhide due to fan complaints. Why did fans complain about that?

Wikipedia should never be taken as gospel on anything. Personally I would have loved to have Arcee in the movie and I think doing so would have done a lot to attract more females to the franchise but it didn't happen. If memory serves she was actually in an early draft of the film as a super sexy motorcycle but she was written out. Why? Who knows?

Well, Ironhide is a better choice than Arcee, for starters. The Autobots are somewhat lacking without a gritty veteran in the ranks.

But many of the articles look well-researched and really deep into details. In fact, I learned many things I didn't know about from Wikipedia, BTW!
Maybe Arcee would appear in some future TF movie? If the fan complaint was because she's a female, then it sounds VERY sexist to me.=P

I don't believe what Wikipedia has to say...
But if I did have to decide between Arcee and Ironhide, Ironhide is the best choice, especially the movie design, which totally rules.
Arcee is still cool though. Love the purple bike, hope she can make it in a sequel.

well if you think about it..wouldnt it seem wierd if a bike goes down the road without a rider?

Ultimately, the idea of a female Transformer was too juicy and required too much attention to focus on correctly in TF1.
Also, since we wanted to make her a motorcycle, the size disparity between her and the rest of the Autobots gave us some logistical problems in relation to our specific story. And when the fans didn't love the idea anyway, we just let it go.

interesting, I never though of the size thing - but it's true, she would be mighty tiny. Still, it would be fun to see her in a sequel, or another motorbike Autobot, a new character even. Bike TFs are too cool
not to do.

Thanks for stoppin by Roberto! Do you guys foresee her having a shot in one of the sequels? Personally I don't really care either way. Arcee was always a take it or leave it character for me. However, my fiancee who isn't much of a Transformers fan would certainly enjoy seeing a movie like this that much more if there was a character like Arcee in a future film. I think the key would be to not play her up like the typical female character that ends up having to be rescued by Optimus and the other autobots, but instead as a strong unique character who can stand on her own two feet in the action quite well. Personally I think the motorcycle idea is slick! Despite her size difference she could make an excellent scrapper, small, fast, stealthy. Think about the terran ghost units from starcraft. At face value they are pretty weak, but it's their specialty skills that make them so deadly.

He was never considered, at least for this one.
As for Arcee being in the movie, I always thought that was a rumor anyway.

Well if you think about it, robot sex doesn't make much sense either.

I think that she'd be a cool character but it would take a lot of care and attention to do it right. For one it would be hard to have a female transformer without confusing the audience with gender specific robots.
Two she'd be small and it would be wierd unless she had a size specific role in the move. (I'm assuming little Frenzy does).
Third it would be tricky making the holo-rider convincingly appear and disappear during transformations.
I agree it's not great for TF1. I wouldn't mind her in a sequel.

I thought ironhide was supposed to be in the movie from the begining, and that arcee was simply cut from the movie, not replaced.

What I hate most about Arcee is that she constantly tried to be Daniel's babysitter the movie. I actually found it hilarious in one episode of The Rebirth when Snapdragon mangled him. But then she saved his life once more by attaching him as her Headmaster, possibly making him immortal. Way to go, babe...
