Why did they release a comic preview? and why would they release the comic spoiling the story months before the movie is out?

I really didn't want to know that Sentinel Prime kills Ironhide and uses his corrupt Autobots to invade earth

he calls himself the TRUE leader of the Autobots and says the Transformers will leave Earth in piece if the humans give them all Earths natural resources to help rebuild Cybertron, and if not he will attack earth

To be honest, THIS was the first time I actually got scared a bit about DOTM. I'm sure that I'm not alone idolising SP already and if he was evil, that would have the same result as Optimus Prime's death in the 1986 Movie.

I have never seen nor read any TF comics (except in the Net, like TF: Mosaics on DeviantART) so my only knowledge of Transformers movies comes from three places: Transformers wiki(s), Seibertron.com and the movies themselves.

So, basically, I don't know how reliable they are. And I REALLY hope that SP doesn't turn into a Live-Action version of TFAs Jerk-a-zoid (who I somehow came to respect, though it may have been, 'cause I liked his design.)

Why!? Sentinel has NEVER been a nice person in ANY Transformers fiction.

It's true. The cargo Sentinel Prime's ship was carrying is the components for a Space Bridge. He teams up with Megatron so they can bring Cybertron into Earth's orbit ala "Ultimate Doom". He kills Ironhide. Megatron and Optiomus team up and kill him. It's not a hoax. It happens.

Read Megatron Origins for starters. Then read Exodus in which he STARTED THE WAR BECAUSE HE WAS SO CORRUPT. The you can look in Animated in which he was prepared to risk destroying Cybertron by shooting the in-orbit Omega Supreme. They are the three times Sentinel Prime has been a main character and he was relatively corrupt, not evil, in all of them.

Killing Ironhide I don't think is meant to be evil. He views the new Autobots as traitors to Cybertron and in war, treason means death. Sentinel Prime and his Autobots are corrupt, just like they ALWAYS have been in EVERY fiction, not evil.

OK guys? Its true. You're in denial and its frustrating. Fast-forward to the acceptance stage so we can move on and enjoy the movie.

God, all you people who NEED Sentinel Prime to be GOOD have clearly never seen/read a decent fiction in your life. A story with Black and White moralty is always crap.

He is corrupt (if you want to call him evil.. whatever)... Deal with it.

I for one am glad he's not a boy scout a-la Magnus, and am delighted to hear that he will get his ass handed to him. I didn't like him from the get-go, and everyone else's adulation and adoration of him before the movie even came out just made me dislike him more. Hopefully it's Megatron who finishes him, he needs the street cred again after RoTF.

Although you have to keep in mind the comicbook fight scenes tend to play out completely differently in the movie...

Sentinel is about to kill Optimus, but is interrupted by Megatron who knocks his gun/shield out of his hand and punches him in the face (with a very dignified "that's LORD Megatron to you!"). During the struggle, Optimus gets Sentinel's gun/shield and blasts him in the chest, killing him.

My only concern about the film relating to the comic books isn't related to the Sentinel Prime issue, but instead the reference to the prequel comics. I haven't read them and I'm not ready to drop $40 on a comic book. I hope the film doesn't require you to read the prequel comics to know what's going on. The scene with the dead autobots come to mind.
