DotM: Jetfire's armor returning

Just something I noticed during a repeat viewing of the 3D trailer...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuvU_BywPs0 skip to 2:20

We knew Optimus used a jetpack at some point, but now that you get a better look at it you can tell that it's the extra armor he got from Jetfire in RotF. What clued me in:

1. The shape of the thrusters and wings
2. The machineguns he's firing. Optimus normally doesn't have machineguns in his arsenal.

Of course it also looks like the armor was refurbished and given a more stable fitting. The situation at the end of RotF called for hastey repairs after all. Still, glad to see Jetfire's sacrifice isn't being forgotten.

I thought his trailer converted to a jet pack and "butterfly" wings? At least thats what his toy does.

It does? I haven't seen the toy myself, but I heard the trailer turns into a shield like Sentinel has.

That's Jetpack Optimus. Like in the past trailers. No Jetfire. It's "supposed" to be his trailer. Some believe it's Silverbolt *facepalm*

Actually Gyrotron the engines look like those from Jetfire, as do the machineguns. They're just placed differently this time probably cause Ratchet could do a better job afixing them to Optimus and give them some repair work. Infact without the lower pair of wings it would look identical to the jetpack he had in RotF.

Maybe the armor is stored in the trailer when not in use?

Ahh, interesting. Thanks for those pics Gyrotron. Never even knew Jetpack Prime even existed.

Hmm. Could be. But there is a toy that bases Primes trailer that turns into some sort of flight pack.

BUt your right. The ones in the toys Grytron posted up, as well as the shots from the trailer look more simular to Jet fires pack than this setup. we'll have to wait till July 29th i guess.

I don't believe it's intended to be Jetfire's remains story-wise, but I think FX crew might have used parts of the jetpack's ROTF computer model to make Prime's DOTM jetpack.

That's probably just his trailer...

In ROTF The Fallen destroyed one of the boosters during their very short fight.

Well, he didn't so much destroy it as tear it off. Transformers in the film series get parts torn off all the time but get repaired. Besides the physical similarities to Jetfire's armor there's also the small factor of why Optimus would still have the jetpack and guns but not have it be Jetfire's. Ontop of that Prime had no reason to lug a trailer around before DotM. I'm sticking with my theory that he keeps Jetfire's armor in the trailer until it's needed.

Can you tell I'm a fan of the Jetfire/Optimus combiner mode? Was the only thing good about the Unicron trilogy in my opinion. :P

Silverbolt's not in the movie. Give it up, guys.

That's just a jet-pack that Optimus uses to fight the Driller/Shockwave, it comes from his trailer.

Ok, we know that's his trailer, however you can't use that as a fact to remove him from the Autobot equation. If you can prove that he's not in the film with a reliable source (e.g Michael Bay's website) then I'd be more than happy to admit that you're right.

P.S: He doesn't have to combine with Optimus. Does every flying autobot in the bayverse line have to combine with him?

LOL you think Michael Bay's website is a reliable source. Have you not been up to date with the misinformation that he's been giving for DOTM and what he gave for ROTF?
The reliable sources are the novel, the video-games, the comic, the merchandise, the toys and the books. Silverbolt is in none of these. I can safely say that he is NOT in the movie.

Several characters that werw in ROTF's video game never made it to the movie. So thats not a relieable source. I didn't read the novel adaption of ROTF so i can't coment on that, but i have read a few books that that were attached to movies and they were drasticly different. (Jurasic Park comes to mind)

And so what if He does appear in the movie? Are you going to openly appoligise to Bay, or will you find some excuse to put him down again? There is only going to be one reliable source at this point... And that is going to be the final movie when it comes out June 29th.

Why would one need to apologize to Bay? Where did he/she put down Bay? It may have been from a prior post, but I don't see anything insulting here. (Besides saying he is not a reliable source, but Bay has stated that he is intentionally not going to be a reliable source.)

I personally don't think it is going to be Silverbolt....IMO the trailer will not be sentient at all, but that is just a guess.

Well part of it does stem back to prior posts of hers with Bay & Co. giving out solid info and then still calling them liars. But i guess it was just a general question. Your right that Bay & Co. did state that there was going to be mis information campains ahead of time (this being a perfect example of revealing characters. So to be fair, i don't see how one can get mad at them when they knowing knew that some info wasn't going to be true in the first place. But at the same time, if people would just be patient, just wait till the movie is released, instead of beating Bay & co. every day for every freakin' detail of the movie, then these "mis information" campains wouldn't need to exhist in the first place.
