I've Never Wanted to Kill an Autobot Before (DOTM Spoilers)

Hell, I haven't even wanted to kill any specific Decepticon. But that crap Sentinel Prime pulled took me by surprise. Now, it's not the fact that he betrayed the Autobot cause. I thought that was a great plot twist. But there's one thing that fudging pissed me off.
That bastard killed Ironhide.
Movieverse Ironhide is a character I like a lot, even though I don't own a toy of him (used to have the HFTD toy, but ran into problems with it twice). He's got guns, a cool voice, a tough alt. mode, and an awesome tough guy attitude. Seeing him die was even worse than when I saw G1 Ironhide die (that made me more sad than angry; I really like G1 Ironhide). Maybe there's something wrong with me, but it really had an effect on me. I was pretty much shocked when I saw him die. At that point, I really, really wished I could kill Sentinel Prime.
Sentinel Prime, I hate you with all my hate.

As I watched Ironhide go I mumbled to me and anyone around me listening "That bastard needs to die so bad". Sentinel couldn't die fast enough for me. And it was watching Ironhide suffer that I realized Sentinel wasn't going to be redeemed in the end as killing Ironhide seemed to solidify his deranged ideals.

Mech character development seemed to end with the first film, I didn't have much care for any of the mechs, con or bot, by the 3rd one. I was just "meh... hey, cosmic rust, cool". And his death just seemed so stiff, it didn't work well and it seemed to easy for Ironhide to bite it.

Think it was probably done for shock value. I remember reading Michael Bay saying somewhere that there would be deaths and the dead would stay dead. It probably worked too, since Ironhide is probably the closest any other Autobot besides Prime and Bumblebee to have some sort of personality and character (oh excepting Wheelie and Brains)

Same thoughts exactly. In fact it was that scene that didn't make the last killing by Prime suck for me. I would have been TREMENDOUSLY disappointed if after all that, he went G1 merciful on Sentinel Prime. No, the way it was set up,
Sentinel had to die. I'm glad it was done after he killed Megatron though, so at least the very end held some satisfaction for me. He went back to 'complete da job' on Sentinel after Megatron got killed. My ONLY consolation about the ending.

Same here.
By the end, they were just giant machines who existed to kill each other.
The supposed peace-lovers were very good at it whereas the war-mongering Decepticons never quite seemed to get the hang of the "kill Autobots" line in the Decepticon Mission Statement.
Weird.

As far as I'm concerned, Sentinel doesn't deserve to be called an Autobot.

^ This. If Ironhide was fleshed out a bit more to where we saw his actual character, rather than the "Punk/bitch-ass decepticon!" quips and then an actual death scene that caused a reaction in the other characters in the movie, (other than

) then I might have felt some anger towards Sentinel Prime.
But to be honest, Sentinel Prime's character in the Transformers Animated series just pissed me off again and again, if that means anything towards the topic. He was actually more of a pronounced 'dick' in the animated series than in the movie.

i can see sentinals reasoning from his perspective
Cons are fighting to rebuild their home, bots are preventing this. In their eyes, prime is the traitor, willing to condemn their world 4 an inferior species who turned their back on them at drop of a hat. Human history aligns us with cons every time
In an other universe, benedict arnold is a hero and oskar schindler is a traitor.
