Was anyone else disappointed with Shockwave? *Spoilers*

I liked the movie but...........i was really disappointed with shockwave. His introduction was great, however at the end of the movie it was like he didn't matter. I was also unhappy with the fact that a few special forces seemed to disable shockwave with a few rounds to his "eye". I just wish he had more screen time, even though sentinel is the main villain.

oh and PS - was pissed about how worthless they ended up making soundwave..................WTF?

I loved his intro into the movie too! and agree with you on the fact that I am very unhappy on the whole "you'll shoot your eye out" thing like really, these are alien robots that can transform yet a couple rounds to the eye and your done just kind of ruined it for me :(

I was too. I was really hoping he'd be a bigger threat.

Was i disappointed with Shockwave? Absolutely. Especially With all the hype he was given post production, and being in the main trailer. To me he was used as a deterrent for everyone to believe was the main villain to through everyone off the sent of Sentinel Prime actually being the main villain. But to be honest, i can't blame them. Its not like you can just release that only an autobot, but a Prime will be the main villain and betray the Autobots. I remember how dumb some people felt for digging so hard trying to find out soundwaves Alt mode, only to find out that it was kept secret to hide a key plot twist. Many had ruined this part of the movie for them self's.

But back on topic, regardless of being the main villain or not, they could have given him a much more predominate role considering who he was. This was probably the biggest disappointment in the movie for me. Like you guys said, epic entrance, with no follow up performance. He might has well not even been there.

There were some flashes of cool (scene where rubble falls on his head and he lets the Driller loose) but I agree he was largely wasted. I was still excited to see him though in a live action movie. He was cool for what he was. I actually thought in the beginning that maybe he was going to be acting as field commander for the Decepticons invading Chicago and was a bit disappointed that dynamic wasn't there. I think that would have been cool and only required a few more scenes setting that up interspersed with the invasion and ensuing battle.

Yes, i was extremely disappointed with Shockwave. Although he did a good job o looking badass, thats pretty much it. Hell, the Driller was a more dynamic character. ;)

He was a letdown.

In the first half of the movie, with Megatron stuck in the desert with Soundwave and Screamer, I hoped it was because there was a tear in the decepticon army and we'll see some decepticon vs. decepticon match...

His main purpose was to throw people off sentinel's trail as the big bad. Otherwise they could used Sixshot as silent menacing henchman number 7 and saved Shockwave for another film as potential leader to replace Megatron. I get why they did it, and made sense for them to focus far more screen time on Sentinel Prime than any other villain. Unlike the Fallen, you got far more into seeing what made him tick, but he was a more complicated character than the Fallen as well.

True! even in the teasers/previews he was portrayed as the bad guy to throw you off.

I was too...

as everybody else I expected him to have a much bigger role in the movie.

obviously we were tricked to believe he was the main villain in the movie to hide everything about Sentinel Prime.

Shockwave suffers from Darth Maul syndrome. He looks awesome but his role is tiny and he dies too quick.

True. Hard to say who disappointed me more, him or Soundwave. Both were just minor characters. I was pleasantly surprise by Laserbeak. He was one of the more interesting characters.

Yeah, I was under the impression that Shockwave was the major villain of the movie as the marketing campaign centered around him as opposed to Megatron.

I'm happy with the movie, just caught off guard by Shockwave's role.

I dont remember shockwave ever doing much in the g1 series either though...

Yeah, in that respect, he lived up to G1.

I also agree that he was a waste. He didn't even put up a fight against Prime. He could have at least crushed some soldiers or something. Yes, he did look really good, though.

Shockwave was a much bigger deal in the comics than he ever was in G1. He was more menacing in animated than he was in G1. In G1 he was basically the middle management of Decepticons and stayed on cybertron. Loyal, and just watched the place.

It would been nice if he was held back for another main villain (or actually been the main villain. I could see someone stepping up and telling Megatron what for after this long.) I wasn't disappointed, I always want more, but Hollywood can't afford make the movies I dream of hehe.

I was really disappointed. When I heard he was going to be the main villain I was really excited because Shockwave is one of my favorite Decepticons. Then when I saw it I was really disappointed with how he was so insignificant to the film's plot.

I liked him for the most part. But I do feel he didn't really live up to te general expectations. His opening was awesome 'AAAAPTAAMEEEEEES'.

I agree i was very happy to see him and how he could change into a autobot without scanning anything.

I was incredibly disappointed...his whole two scenes were cool, but I really would've liked more. They could've at LEAST made the fight between him and Optimus last longer.

"OPTIMUUUUUS!!!"
Well, it sounded awesome in his voice.

Come to think of it, it kinda bugs me how both he and Megatron seem to not even try to fight back when Optimus kills them...seems very off.

Couldn't agree more i felt like meg's was drunk or something like that at the end of the movie just sitting there on the curb and then at the end of the movie he didn't even stand a chance even with a weakened one armed O.P. :BANG_HEAD:

I was disappointed with every Decepticon save for Laserbeak in this film. Shockwave, the most verbose of the Decepticons, gets one word of dialogue. Shot in head, killed. Soundwave, turns into a Mercedes, not so disappointing in his performance. Shot in head, killed. Starscream, barely seen, embarrassingly slain by humans. Head asplode, killed. Megatron is turned into a sulking, self-pitying emo hobo. Decapitated, killed.

Aside from barely being on-screen at all, all of them went down too easy, too quickly, and all from inglorious, fatal head-wounds eliminating any chance of their return in the supposed 4th installment.

I agree with most of that. i mean what other decepticons are going to be in it? all new ones! and that will take ages to do so i wont be excepting to see a TF4 for defently more than 2 years :-( . they should atleast keep starscream and shockwave  . speaking of shockwave he should of defently been in it more and with more speaches rather of just saying "optimus!!!". he should of said "logic brings all things together" . i love his qoute :D .
