BEAST WARS: THE MOVIE

Can you imagine if they did a "prequel" of sorts for the live action films and showed the Beast Wars? I mean done in the same way using live action animals with CGI to create the characters. I know they have the technology. I think that would be amazing. Mass shifting shouldn't be an issue being that they had Skorponok in the first film (which was an-oversized skorpion). What do you all think?

That seems a little too far fetched for the casual audience. I'm also guessing the only reason they made Scorponok a mechanical scorpion is because Beast Forms are too complex for casual movie-goers.
PS: Scorponok's alt. mode in the movies is an engine... (Watch the Qatar attack scene again).

When I started to get into Transformers thanks to the first Bayformers, I checked out all of the mediums, and just couldn't buy the Beastwars one. So, I as a casual viewer, won't even bother watching this as a bootleg on the internet, much less actually pay to see it, so nope!

I doubt Beast Wars could work as a prequel within the existing framework of the Movies - seeing Transformers roaming around Earth in prehistoric times is obviously old hat for this version of the franchise by now (ROTF). Plus the chances of ever seeing a TF movie or any sort of big- or small-screen TF venture that doesn't have civilized, speaking humans in it ever again are not of the kind I'd bet on.
Personally, if I was gonna bring in the Beast Wars, I'd probably prefer it be set in Earth's distant future rather than in the distant past...maybe on a post-apocalyptic Earth wiped out in WWIII, and the Maximals and Predacons are brought about as the result of bio-engineering experiments based upon studies of the Transformers when they were on Earth previously (maybe changing from beast modes to vehicle/weapon/device modes and back again - which, again, already has precedence in the existing films). But the one big nasty mechanized reptilian who looks and acts a lot like Megatron decides he could do a fair sight better at preventing further conflict by taking over the planet itself, kind of playing up the Biblical-Armageddon overtones of the beasts rising up to take over the Earth and whatall - sort of like the Planet of the Apes, Mad Max, and Terminator movies all rolled into one. Lame, I know.

this post apocaliptic idea is great IMHO, but I doubt they will be a beast wars movie. esp. the morpf/shift effects would be very expensive with "real" animals, who should also look like some.

Eh, I don't think it'd be all that big an issue for them to look like 'real' animals in a dystopic setting, when Primus-only-knows what has happened to animal life on Earth as the result of all that warfaring (mutations, etc.)...heck, even in "Beast Wars" itself, the Maximals and Predacons only looked 'real' for one season or thereabouts before they started going all Transmetal, which in some cases involved beast/vehicle hybrid modes (not to mention how funky the Maximals ended up looking back on Cybertron when we got to "Beast Machines").
I suppose you could always play the Alice/Pretender card and give them synthetic animal skins (which I suppose would also serve as a Terminator homage) that they'd end up shedding when it comes time to transform or otherwise engage each other in combat.

I'd love to see, say a direct to DVD beast wars movie, ala the animated ones marvel and DC do.

Transformers for me will always be robots transformering into vehicles. Not animals. Though i did watch some of the beast wars episodes when i was i kid, i never really bought into the whole concept and the more i think about it, the more it seems overly cheezy.

That wouldn't be a bad idea. Beastwars is more fan oriented anyways and would fair better in a direct to DVD than a big screen adaption.

I also was a Beast War naysayer way back. Last autumn, I started collecting TF for real. Last spring, 4chan told me that BW was awesome. I gave it a chance and watch. Yeah, primitive CGI is primitive. Yeah, TRUK NOT MUNKY.
And just after I saw the firt 4 episodes, I was hooked. Excellent stories, cleverly written, endearing characters, lots of fun to watch... Man, I never got bored in a single episode!
Granted, I saw the whole Armada and Energon series before. So my expectations were quite low. But I was honestly, and positively BLOWN AWAY by BW.
I now have my BW Dinobot,BM Optimus Primal, all the Blackarachnias save the first one (too ugly), my Japanese deluxe BW Megs (Yeeeeessss) and I finaly just got my Ultra BW Optimus Primal.
Anyone who have the "TRUK NOT MUNKY" mindset, just open your mind and give a go at the first BW season. You will NOT be disapointed.

Well, I'm no expert and I have only seen a few episodes overall from Beast Machines, but those to who the Movie-verse was first ever seeing the Transformers, wouldn't it be rather confusing that the guy they've seen turning into a truck turns into a cyborg-gorilla and the robots are all furry and fleshy with some mechanical parts visible? The first episode I saw from the BM I was like: "A gorilla running around on Cybertron? WTF? When's Optimus gonna ride out and transform?"
Point is that Transformers, Autobots and Decepticons are ROBOTS, Maximals and Predacons are TECHNORGANICS. I wouldn't be willing to accept that the ancestors of the TF's that rumbled in Chicago, Egypt, Shanghai and Mission city would heritage from an ape-forming flesh-robot that probably shouldn't even know what a primate is. In one theory at least.
When you read this, please do not judge me. As I said, I'm no expert.

I think we have the technology capable of making a Beast Wars movie, but compromises would have to be made.
1.) You would have to get rid of the gore. (Yes, there is gore. Cheetor's weapon for example. No one's going to want to see a gut gun in IMAX 3D. Not to mention their transformations. Plus, it's Hollywood, so they would probably want to ramp up the blood and gore, considering how much potential there is for it.)
2.) How would you begin it? (The public has embraced Bayverse Optimus and crew. You bring them Optimus Primal and his brethren and you might risk them all shaking their heads and walking out. It would have to be a reboot, and it's too soon for a reboot.)
3.) How many characters would you have in it? (We already have models made for the Bayverse bots. It's now just a matter of animating them, rather than designing and animating. With this, you'd have to start from scratch and it could be incredibly expensive and a very risky gamble.)
4.) Beast Wars and Beast Machines was a one shot deal. (We loved it, we enjoyed it, but we were also riding high on the thrill of Jurassic Park at the time. We don't have that going right now. Outside of the Beast series, we've been enjoying vehicle based TFs for most of these 25 years. The vehicle bots far outweigh the beasts, in terms of numbers. I'm not sure we could revive it and make it work now.)
Me, personally? I'd watch it, but I enjoyed Beast Wars, so I'm biased. The public? Probably not so much...

There's your problem. YOU STARTED AT THE END. It will also make NO SENSE if you never saw Beast War.
My suggestion is to watch BW by starting at the beginning. Season one, episode one.
Here. I'm even holding you hand and point you out to a Torrent:
Beast Machine is the END of the BW franchise. Once you have finished all of the BW seasons, you go see BM. Trust me, the Beast series is one of the best TF toon ever.

I would be so happy to see a Beast Wars movie but like someone else said, in the distant future, not the past.
