There are a few scenario that come in mind about the reception of this film, here are those possible:

1)Total ****
Critic: Hate
Fan: Hate
The movie end up beign a utterly abominable piece of crap.. This scenario is highly probable.

2)Who care about the fan?
Critic: Love
Fan: Hate
The Movie is good, but true fan aren't satisfied. This scenario is highly probable too.

3)Fan Treat
Critic: Hate
Fan: Love
Movie Critic hate it, but the fan end-up liking it. Somewhat possible...

4)Hit
Critic: Love
Fan: Love
This movie become an instant classic! It kick ass for everyone! Very unlikely but still possible!

I guess 1-2 are the most probable. Even if this movie suck, ill still end up liking it.

#5 Intial hype/praise but the movie wont hold up over time and will be trashed by fans. Casual viewers will see it as just as a giant robot flick that was entertaining though.

guess you are a complete pessimist.

and, its OK to hate the movie if it sucks. seriously.. if it blows then it deserves whatever **** you can throw at it.

Anyone pay to see Aliens vs. Predator??? I did.. and it was complete ass. Complete. ASS.

2 beloved characters duking it out. HOW COULD IT BE BAD??? haha..

joke was on us.

Per reviews, this movie will be loved by the fans and given thumbs up by the critics as a fun, exciting movie.

If I am wrong, then I wont mind saying so.

Here's to hoping the AvP 2 gets and R rating. I won't go see it if it's another PG-13 flick. :-x

Do we really need another thread like this???

Either we love it or hate it..

I have gotten 4 reviews from long standing board members (whom will remain nameless) that have seen it and it broke down to this.

3 of them were "haters" and thought the movie would be complete ****.
1 looked forward to it.

All enjoyed it thoroughly and cannot wait to see it again.

I was more pointing the fact that some movie critics pan movie who are actually pretty good. Not to mention where forgetting a fact...

Some fan will love it, other will hate it. Some person loved A.V.P and other despised it. You can't please anyone...

I didn't mind AvP. Of course it also helped that I worked in a theater when it released and got to see it for free. Of course it is one of the movies that sits in my DVD collection never watched. I got the whole boxset so it wasn't like I went out of the way to get it.

I think the fans that will enjoy it most are those going in with no preconcieved notions of what the movie should be.

I think this more likely, especially in the DC region, where the critics hate everything that doesn't come out of an art house.

Fixed, and no, you can't please everyone. But you also have to remember this film isn't being made for just the fans. It's also aimed at the moviegoer who wouldn't know a Transformer from a Gundam. ;)

Niether do I, for precisely the reason I mentioned earlier.

i for one know this movie will tank...its not even a toss up to be because when it comes down to actual brass tax the numbers will not match the hype....but i will still watch it and own it just for the fact that you will be able to get it at walmart for 5 bucks by september....

I'd put some money on TF movie not tanking. And I mean the 2007 movie not the old 86 flick. I'm going to speculate opening week (not weekend) will be around 60 million. That's not tanking in my book.

lol...that is a huge tank in my book...im guessing real world 70-95 million first week "total" if they are lucky...no more no less this film wont be a shrek or spider man cash juggernaut and transformers does not have a following of star wars so that bridge is gone also...now if those are the real world numbers or close to it in the end then you will see the kiss of death for the movie by the second week...because we all know ticket sales always drop off by 80 percent for moderate films.

yep those are the few scenarios...ironically those scenarios can be thought of with any movie. good job in stating the obvious.

No matter what happens the movie is still going to be a classic

Or at least a cult classic, like 'Army of Darkness'. Some movies suck so bad that they actually become good.

Lol! That would be cool...the problem is: if the movie doesn't work, we can't have a sequal!

I hate to say it but I will have to agree with the first post, 1-2 are the most probable.

Same here. When some critic tells me that The Horse Whisperer is good and Dawn of the Dead '04 is crap, they loose all kinds of crediblity in my book.

So what's it like to have the ability to see into the future?

Its gonna be number 3. Sounds like 1 and 2 are just the rantings of the usual G1 fanboy hate speech stuff we've heard for years now.

What was the point in posting this?

What's to listen to? They're either art house fans or paid by the studio to pump up the movie.

Either way, don't expect to ever find a non-biased opinion in a review section.

Critics are gonna rip this to shreds no matter what anyway because they all hate action movies and only like, like you said, artsy fartsy type films or crime thrillers directed by martin scorsese.

1-2 are highly probable, but 3-4 is till possible. I was just saying wwe will have to judge for ourself.
But critic will pan this!

Im also saying that there are still a slim chance that this film actually work. Its slim, but its there....

By "work" what do you mean?

As far as i can tell the film will be a great success on all fronts. Lets see many TF fans are wetting themselves to see it, it does infact have ALOT of G1 elements in there for all the whiners out there too. The characters look great on screen and the CGI is mind boggling, the merchandise is selling well, the new line of toys are very likeable and all the kids are gonna want em after theyve seen the film even if they wasnt transfans to begin with.

Then theres the simple fact that this is a pure popcorn money-making summer blockbuster, with huge names behind it which always catch the general audiences' eyes, i.e., Micheal Bay and Steven Speilberg.

I cant see this being anything but a success on nearly every level. Its not gonna win any awards for story telling, but it certainly is going to do exactly what a movie should do. Entertain.
