If Soundwave appears in any sequels... at what point would you not call him that?

A. Lips instead of faceplate.
B. No carrying of smaller guys function whatsoever.
C. No extreme synth to his voice.
D. Not an audio device.
E. All of the above.
F. Other.

(List all that apply)

For me, without at least A, B and C together... bleh.

I could possibly get away with D, but it'd have to kick ass... bonus points if it's a vehicle with a beautifully ridiculous sound system.

You? What's your criteria for calling a robot "Soundwave"?

I don't care what Soundwave transforms into. He can't be a tape deck, that's for sure - he needs to be something big and intimidating (I always thought he'd be great as a stealth bomber, it fits his character perfectly)

But he NEEDs the faceplate, it's so cold and emotionless - just like he is.

he NEEDS the flat, metallic voice - it's what most people remember from him (MY non-transfan friends anyway...)

If he has those two things... I could forgive not giving him little minions, but it would take alot of time and forgiving for that.

A. Lips instead of faceplate.

I don't care if he has lips while speaking to his commander (Galvatron?) as long as he switches to a faceplate for battle, like Prime does.

B. No carrying of smaller guys function whatsoever.

If a totally new character named Blackout carries a robot minion, the one famous for doing it really should do so as well. If it's going to be just one minion, make it Laserbeak. It doesn't have to be rectangular, as long as the minion transforms into an integral part of Soundwave's alt mode.

C. No extreme synth to his voice.

His voice should be monotone and synthetic, it's part of his character. Just like Prime's voice enhances his regal personality (okay, so they got his original actor for that)
Megatron gets the powerful voice of Hugo Weaving (remember Elrond's commanding voice at the council?)
Starscream is sneaky and sinister through his voice. Soundwave should sound like he always did. Monotone to envoke his utter obeydience and cold devotion to his spy tasks.

D. Not an audio device.

His name is Soundwave, so I expect him to emit some sort of sound. Since there won't be any mass shifting, he must become some sort of big vehicle. I like the idea of a Stealth Bomber (like Cybertron Soundwave, but more realistic) or that van with the sonic cannon.

So, of ABCD, he should have minions, his classic voice and an appropriate sound emitting alt mode. His head should be like Jazz, classic bits incorporated into the movie style, with a retractable faceplate if they must.

Yeah Stealth Bomber would do... neatly.

A)
At least the daceplate mustbe the battle mode. Thats the minimum.

2)
No minion make him weird, but he could still be Soundwave. A weird incarnation, but still SoundWave-ish enough...That would suck, of course¸!

3)
Soundwave MUST have weird, metallic voice! No weird voice, not Soundwave!

4)
Anything realted to sound will be fine. or maybe if has "Sonic Weaponry"...everyone agree a Stealth Bomber would kick ass! Or an Mk-6 Balkan would fit too!

I don't think there's a point where I wouldn't call him Soundwave to be honest. I would like the personality to be as close to G1 Soundwave as possible and the synthesised voiced would be good as well.

If I can't tell it's suppose to be him.

A.
Lips are fine as long as battle mode has the face plate... and preferably the orange visor as well.

B.
Must have minions. They've already prepared the audience for minions with Blackout and Barricade anyways. I'd like two. Ravage is first pick, laser beak is number 2.

C.
Don't all the voices sound synthesized anyways? I don't think they should make his voice overly unique. It doesn't make sense.

D.
I think the alt mode should be some sort of communication vehicle. I like the idea of a car cause it would allow his character to go around the city spying and investigating before transforming into a giant harcore robot. I really liked the mk6 balkan with the ravage spare tire. A helicopter could also be cool. I don't really like the stealth bomber.

I would stop calling him Soundwave the instant he cracked some wise ass comment or got into a humerous situation. NOt in the poll but I could live with some of the rest so long as they are true to his character.

Faceplate: Like many others, I think if he did what Prime does in the movie...doable.

Minions: Needed. That was to the Decepticons as Prime's trailer was to the Autobots...you can carry and hide other bots within their own team. Toy tranlation: Very fun gimmick....much better than Cyber-keys, lights/sounds/etc.
SW was known for carrying several bots...why not have movie version do it too? I'd perfer them not to combine as per combiner technology, however. Why not include the whole slew of tapes...Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy, Ratbat, Slugfest, Overkill, Squalktalk and Beastbox? Focus on 1-2, but use them all...That would show those humans the what-for. A movie Ravage could be rather deadly and sinister

Voice: Flat. Monotone. Great. It's his character. NEEDED.

Audio Device: Eh. Wouldn't mind some sort of big audio truck...or broadcast van? SOmething big...stealth bomber an ok idea...but I don't think he needs to be much of a fighter/aggressive alt form...as espionage is his forte.

A. he has to have a battle faceplate at least, i'd like to see the yellow visor kept. if jazz can keep his, so can soundwave
B. he has to be able to drop off or launch a little guy, just like the tapes
C. he has to have a monotone voice, but he never talked a lot in the cartoon
D. since everything is getting upgraded alt modes, i can't picture him as a boom box in a new movie. i think he's be perfect as a communications vehicle like a Canadian ARIES or TRILS (link to pics/info here http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/lf/English/2_5.asp?sub=6). its military related, be a cool toy, it matches his description in his tech specs and he is a communications officer
F. I think i wouldn't call him soundwave if he had nothing to do with communication or sound. if he was a corvette with big speakers because it was cool, i wouldn't be happy haha
