A reboot (check)
A new asthetic (You'll need to market new toy designs, right?)
A new director (it could happen)

And finally, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd rather see a return of Hot Shot than another army of Bumblebee.

You just can't resist starting a fight huh? Well ok. First of all; I think my Opinion is as valid as yours and I have every right to say what I think about Bay and his movies. After all this is my first post about this matter, so its not like I'm complaining about this in every topic. It's funny how everting what we who don't like the movie say is always ludicrious, hilarious etc. Why don't you smell your own thoughts for once. If you like his movies, fine. Don't expect that all share your taste.

Besides frack...for some of you Bay really seems to be next to God and Santa. He is not doing this for charity you know. He most likely won't care what we think of him, so you don't really have to defend him so hard. And I called him a douchebag, for some of his latest comments have been less nice and when I have listened his comments about his movies, he always seems a bit smug to me. Incredibly low standards right there.

Forgot I mentioned it was because he lost "the touch"? I've grown more fond of the other Prime performances at this point. He's only here because he's Peter Cullen.
Skywarp64 wrote:I'd like to get used to it. I really would. But those chin tumors are simply unforgivable, especially coupled with Prime's teenager voice. Why is the leader of the Autobots 19?
You never even watched the show. Not a single episode. Or else you'd understand how ignorant that statement was.
Skywarp64 wrote:Would YOU pass up the chance to hang out with giant robots? Yeah, didn't think so.
Good God you completely missed the point. The kids should be in witness protection, no question. They serve no special purpose, except for helping out when the Autobots suddenly become inept at things they would have dealt with on a regular basis before coming to earth. Sari was directly connected to the AllSpark Key, a baffling fact which made it a higher priority for the Autobots to keep her around in TFA.
Skywarp64 wrote:These humans are perceived by the Decepticons as Autobot allies. If they left Autobot protection, they'd be in danger.
Again these kids should be in witness protection. If not that, then they should be at the Autobot base at all times. Also it is the Autobot's fault for allowing the kids to know where the base was in the first place. They put them in danger and continue do so almost every episode.
Skywarp64 wrote:Yes. At least Miko's voice is bearable. And at least there are two non-annoying humans to balance with that one.
Completely opinion. I think both of them sound annoying. I just got used to Sari, it's no doubt the same for Miko in your case.
Skywarp64 wrote:Have no idea why, but I couldn't get some of these quotes to work properly.
You left out the "=" sign.

Did I mention that agent Fowler does things that do not make sense either? Like showing up in person all the time instead of just contacting them, or perhaps the fact that he's a federal agent who keeps dirtying his hands? Why in the hell was he flying a jet in one episode, worse why did he not have a flight-suit on? He is a federal agent, not a green beret.

Yeah, virtually nothing of major interest happened until the end of the first season, Optimus is basically what I would call a "stereotypical Optimus", Bulkhead is no different or more established than his original character so whatever, Bumblebee is straight up screwed from the get go, Arcee is somewhat interesting but like the other characters she has an unreasonable attachment to her human partner, and the human characters still have NO good reason to be there. Megatron, oh primus, he's nothing more than a mad overlord, not cold or calculating, just another stereotypical villain throwing his weight around. He's basically more like Galvatron.

Oh and Unicron in the center of the Earth? That's not clever, that's fanfiction level of writing. Even going so far as to say "dark energon is the blood of Unicron". Yeah it's a good plot alright.

I hate to admit it seeing as I am a fan of PRIME, but Vicalliose does raise some vaild points. I do however disagree with regards Cullen's voice; Megatron's personality (I think he's a properly cold mutha trucker); Welker's presentation of him; and the idea of Unicron being encased as the centre of the Earth (a welcome new take on the character and a bold move locking him away so early on).

Especially agree on the humans included in PRIME. Raff I can tolerate because he kinda keeps to himself, but the rest of them just do the same annoying things every episode. They act like they've been pre-programmed more than the giant robots.

I want the Rock to be in it. :D Ahahaha, he can even be Cliffjumper too, if not a human character. :P

I'm just going to laugh at this point and enjoy whatever gets thrown out there. Like others, I'm also expecting at least part reboot though. If not, then I guess Unicron's just gonna have to fix all the Decepticons and send them after the Matrix. Wait. I could totally see that being the plot for the next film. Alright. I guess it's possible. :P

Oh well, I still have to make Crankcase before I worry about running out of costumes to make, so I'm not even too concerned about the designs. I hope Bumblebee goes away though, especially if Sam does (which I hope even more that he does, or at least we skip ahead to where he's "grown up" IE is more of a mentor / leader character like Lennox than the weird "identifiable" main kid character who has issues more pressing than NBE relations). He could show up at the big fight for 5/16 of a second possibly being horribly damaged within that timeframe and leading us to speculate whether he actually dead or not, but either way never to be heard from again. Or, you know, just not show up at all. I'm cool with either.

I say "Bring It On"! I haven't seen a spectacular train wreck of a film since the last Steven Seagal flick.

It's too soon for a re-boot or "re-imagining" so any attempt they make with this is going to have everyone thoroughly pissed off, disgusted and, in general, walking out of the theater going "WTF just happened?" I was totally on-board with the first 3 films and very open minded but I simply cannot see any logic, on ANY level, behind their decision to do TF4 after the way they ended DotM and also this soon afterwards. This isn't how you pay respect to the people who have laid the foundation of intellectual property that has brought you billions of dollars. This is Spielberg and Bay taking a sh** on 25 years of pop cultures history to line their already bulging wallets and the saddest part is that Spielberg is the one pushing this the hardest, not MB.

:BANG_HEAD:

I quite liked the majority of the designs in the movies, (Mudflap, Skids, Que, Devastator's testicles; I am certainly NOT looking at you!) but I would welcome some all-new designs just to change things up a bit.

I don't mind the non-G1 elements to them either: it's not like these movies are the first incarnation of Transformers to not follow the G1 playbook. The idea of the original leaders of Cybertron being 7 Primes who looked like Bionicle figures really didn't phase me, nor did Sentinel making a deal with Megatron.

It's not that they were bad Transformers movies. It's that they were simply bad movies. And I mean aweful. Various elevation and slow-mo shots of stereotypically good looking girls; cliched macho one-liners; two hour long advertisments for all things made in America; enough innuendo to exasperate a pornstar; and the repeated message of "we don't care who or what you are. The United States military will **** you up!"

It genuinely worries me how the same team are meant to reimagine the franchise in any meaningful way without going completely off the rails.

I think TF4 should take place on Cybertron at the start of the Cybertronian Wars. The story could easily span three movies. We have space travel to other worlds, no humans sounds awesome to me.

Man, didn't the first movie come out like 6 years ago? Are we rebooting THIS SOON?! Hey, maybe the reboot can not involve any humans, robot testicles, robots humping legs, minstrel-show racist robots, murder-spree 'I want your face' Optimus, and JETFIRE FARTING A PARACHUTE.

But really, knowing Bay, it'll probably just end up being about people that transform into cars (no robots) and scream constantly at the top of their lungs instead of real dialog while dancing spasmodically in desert ruins and soiling themselves.

I've accepted the reality that at this point TRANSFORMERS has become a victim of its own success.

Last year a friend (who is not as big a TF fan as I am) and I were discussing why I was refusing to go see DOTM in theaters. And he pointed out that he's never seen a franchise that seems to have SO many different mythologies and interpretations as this one does. And he's right and these arguments that we all have back and forth on these message boards is a result of it. For one thing I wish to god we could get a unified continuity from HASBRO...but all they seem to care about is the almighty dollar in pushing plastic. Back in July as everyone here was posting and commenting on TF3 in one way or another, I was looking forward to the time coming soon when the DVD/Bluray would be said and done and gradually the travisty that has been Bayformers would be in the past and we would all move forward in a new direction. There isn't an emoticon on the right that can properly express how frustrating this article is.
This franchise does need a re-boot but it also needs a break before the general public begins to suffer from TF fatigue...and for it to only be Febuary 2012 (less than a year since the trilogies conclusion) and for their to already be press releases, discussion, and conjecture on Bay's part just shows what an ego this guy has. Give Transformers back to the fans please...the mass public has had their fun in our playground and now they'll move on to some other franchise this summer to amuse themselves. Transformers and it's universe of characters and history is more than any one man or director can harness and convey. I've accepted the fact that in all likleyhood I may not see a cinematic version of Transformers that captures the same look and feel of the original in my lifetime. It'll probobly be one of our grandchildren 50 years from now that comes accross some of the original g1 material and says "Wow, this original version needs to be dusted off and re-told". Maybe then our beloved franchise will be done some much deserved justice.
These are just my opinions, so that being said you can save your breath in replying to argue or debate any of my points. I make my stance clear...I don't care for Michael Bay at all, yes I'm a "Geewunner" and even though that spelling and pronunciation has ridicule laced within it, I wear that badge with honor and I'm proud of it.
The bottom line is this franchise is being monopolized by an elite few who are using financial profit as an excuse to steer the franchise in their own selfish direction and the majority of core fans are left in the backseat simply just along for the ride....take it or leave it.
And I'll also say this.....Spielberg and Bay were inducted into the TF hall of fame WAAAAAAAAYYYY too soon. But when you have that kind of power in the entertianment industry lots of things happen too soon. Like sequels to bad movies.

Oh and Unicron in the center of the Earth? That's not clever, that's fanfiction level of writing. Even going so far as to say "dark energon is the blood of Unicron". Yeah it's a good plot alright

Agreed. I've had trouble getting into TF:Prime myself.

LOL! He can't do a character based movie. He's proven that. The idea of him even trying is and imagining he'd be successful is simply hilarious.
Agreed.

"re imagining of Transformers" it doesnt matter how you package it as long as bay and the same morons are attached its still going to be more of the same crap, either completely hand it over to Spielberg and see what he can do on his own or give it to a totally new crew. This franchise needs a reboot fast and Bay and the boys cant pull it off. They need to get rid of bayformers and anything remotely resembling it (tfprime) and start brand new, new crew new ideas new beginning. Maybe actually hire some people who have been fans since the 80s and 90s so there are people that know the franchise and didnt just google it.

AGREED!!!

mkay, here's where i weigh in on this: i enjoyed the bay films. that doesn't mean i worship michael bay, cuz i dont. it also doesnt mean i think they were the best damn three movies of all time, cuz theyre not. i grew up with the beast era, and i didnt have cable growing up so after robots in disguise i couldnt watch any of the other shows. when the movies came out, it rekindled my interest in transformers. I was happy to have a franchise accesible to me with good animation and good characters. for everyone who complains, i see where you're coming from. they don't have the best actors, and theres not much character drama, but let's face it: both when you were a kid and now, you didn't watch Transformers to observe character development; you watched it because there were vehicles that turned into giant robots and fought each other. I actually am excited to see what they bring to the sequel, and while there would be a few things i don't want to be in it (bumblebee, dinobots, hot rod) i won't throw a hissy fit if someone else wants them to be in it, or even if they end up being in it because i won't be able to change it.

Needs a reboot fast huh?.. Based off what exactly? What proof do you have that a re boot with another director will benefit the franchise other than your personal dislike for Bay and his style? cause last time i checked, transformers as a whole is doing better than they ever have.

Megatron Wolf wrote:They need to get rid of bayformers and anything remotely resembling it (tfprime) and start brand new, new crew new ideas new beginning.

Again, why? cause you and some fans who don't even make up 10% of the overall audience don't like it? And TF: Prime is one of the most successfully series to date with majority of the general audience, fans, and even critics. so please, what evidence do you have that TF needs to have a reboot,... and fast!

Megatron Wolf wrote:Maybe actually hire some people who have been fans since the 80s and 90s so there are people that know the franchise and didnt just google it.

Yes, because being fans of transforming vehicles automatically means that you will ex el in writing, directing, filming, special effects, and bringing all this tighter on film. Nor does them being a fan since the 80's and 90's guarantee that their vision will be the same as yours. Case in point, me and you.
I'm 30, been a fan since the 80's and given your dislike with the movies and TF:Prime, i can almost guarantee you that our visions of a reboot would greatly differ from each other.

A reboot doesn't grater anything. For all we know it could make things 10 times worse. Like Bay or not, he has brought TF back and in a good light. TF as as popular as ever and even if you don't like the movies, their success has brought about additional games (war for cybertron), toy lines/figures, shows etc. so unless you haven't enjoyed anything TF related since 07', you have reaped the benefits from these movies one way or another.

It's not so much Bay's style that confounds me. Actually, explosion obsession goes well with waring alien robots. It's everything else. A lot is the scripting. Terrible story telling. I know the movies grossed a metric $*&(^ ton of money, but they (all 3) got terrible reviews from not only critics, but many fans. The movies fall into an all flash, no substance category for me. It's as if, they don't really count. My complaint, is that as long as the movies continue the way they are going, it will always be a joke, summer action flick with no merit for story telling or character development. These movies will not impact another generation like previous iterations of transformers have. Why? because every movie now has jaw dropping special effects, 3d features and T & A. They are not special or exceptional in any way.

The G1 cartoon wasn't that special either, but people are still enamored with it. So enamored in fact that it's practically a weird obsession. It was a 30 minute toy commercial and nothing more. No great character development, no deep stories, just a bunch of robots looking cool so kids would cry and scream for their parents to buy the toys. And you know what? We loved it anyway.

i'm guessing "re-imagining" is just a fancy word they're using to sound cool. i doubt this will be some reboot where the first 3 movies are completely ignored. if it was a whole new team behind the scenes i might believe that but its the same director and producers and likely the same writer(s) and i'm guessing at the very least one actor will return, whether its Shia or one of the military boys.

so i'm pretty sure by "re-imagining", they just meant it'll be the start of a new storyline. so basically what sequels usually are, a new story with the same characters and not part of some overflowing arc. not that the original 3 really had an arc but with the deaths of the final decepticons this franchise introduced in the last movie, it'll be time for a new threat.

We allllll knew another movie was coming, so I'm happy to hear the confirmation. I'm no Bay-hater, but I was hoping for a new director - if only to get a different direction/theme for the movies.

But hey, this means new toys from 2014-on, and this give me much more faith that we'll see a steady stream of good stuff released between now and then!
