I'm not sure how different the system is in Australia (and it's local areas), but I know for sure, here in the US...six million for a four day weekend is barely alive, at best.

I sure hope we get better figures when it's finally released tonight...

No offense though, Burn. Sorry if my post was deemed as such. :(

Yeah, the per screen averages were pretty good. That's always a good indication. And I seem to remember you making a post, Burn, that said it was like the 17th highest opening there, with just below $2 million U.S.

...and this movie has made more in Australia than the animated movie did in its entire run. Wow.

Their figures are different. When you factor in the fact Titanic's total take was $57 mil, you can definately say this did well.

Like I said, factor in the lower population and lower number of cinemas.

It did good by Australian standards.

Screw the official numbers Burn, I know when a film is doing gangbusters when the poromtional Cup and Popcorn Bucket are sold out by the 6.30pm session on the Saturday after release. :P

Still depending on whether they count the first 3 days or the first 7 days as the opening week, Transformers can easily become #3 in the highest earning films of the year, and stroll into the top #10 movies of all time, considering it is already #12.

As long as it beats Wild Hogs, I will be happy...

Oh I'm disrespecting it all over the shop.

With the numbers you have posted since Burn, $3million made on Monday-Wednesday is outstanding, especially for this time of year.

And only $1 million behind Wild Hogs!!! :P

I think that it is fairly safe to say that by this time next week, Transformers will be the 4th highest grossing movie in 2007, behind Pirates, Shrek and Spidey.

The following week it'll be 5th Harry Potter should only take 2 weeks to surpass it, the same goes for the Simpsons.

At the rate it's going, Transformers will make over $20 million, pushing it into around the top 60 films, in Australia of all time, just short of the $57 million Titanic got.
