Heh, think of what could have been...

What would have happened to this film under the helm of a different director? I mean, this is the sort of movie concept someone like Paul W.S. Anderson would have naturally gravitated to. Or let's say a director of a higher calibur than that; how easy it'd have been for said person to simply not get the concept, and allure, of 'giant robots'. It should have been PG, and it should have been an hour and 20 minutes long, right? A toy commercial that you pay for.

I had planned on jovially yelling "DAMN YOU MICHAEL BAY" at the end of the film, but it's not like the movie ever gave me that chance. I came away impressed far beyond what I was expecting, and it's really something special to have a childhood franchise (one of 20 odd years at this point?) portrayed with such creative wit - publically, and mainstreamed.

God, does anything in that last sentence EVER happen?

Imagine if the movie was directed by Kevin Smith. The transformers would just be standing around talking about p**** and smoking some weed.
