Did anyone else happen to catch what Prime said as he stood over Megatron's dead body?


He said, "You left me no choice, brother."

Brother? WTF? I loved the movie and will probably see it again and again but what was that?

they co-ruled cybertron and megatron wanted to take it over..

I don't know. Did you or anyone else here read the prequel comics? I don't have a comic shop nearby so I'm screwed. Did they mention this?

I thought that in one of the storylines, they explained that Optimus and Megs were "brothers". I can't remember all of the details or even which storyline, but I'm sure someone else can jump in and help out.

In the comics it was ment as Borthers in arms. Prime in the last movie adaptation he says "My brothers it been an honor serveig with you". But in the movie it was ment as brother. In the first draft they were brothers and Megatron betrayed Prime.
I still see it as brothers in arms.

it's meant as brothers, or siblings from the same family.. several leaked things that came out a long time ago let that cat out of the bag..
however, i prefer it as brothers in arms.. hard for me to think they were actually "brothers", but maybe tf2 will clear up that pandora's box

Prime strikes me as the type to call a fallen enemy that he once respected "Brother"

In the context of lamenting the pointlessness of it all, it fits.

there is a similar case in the world of Bionicle. close friends or comrades call each other brother or sister, but they can't actually be physically related because they are partially robotic

I kinda like the idea of them being brothers.

It adds a whole new level of intricacy to the story

I forgot about that. I havent followed Bionicle since the begining.

historically, Prime and Megatron really do act like bickering brothers.

They declare war on each other, but you can tell there is a begrudging respect between them.
