And with this statement, you've answered you own question. You really can't please anyone. If you'd have done it totally G1, you'd pissed someone off. Gone in another direction from this movie, you've made others angry. There truly is no pleasing everyone. Just do the best you can to your ability and hope for the best.

Before anyone says "The Transformers community is nothing but a bunch of whingers", let me say this.

It's generally human nature to speak out about something you don't like, even the littlest of things.

The only reason it seems to stand out more in fandoms (and it's not just isolted to the TF fandom) is that people are more passionate about their hobby/obsession/whatever you want to call it.

No, not really. I thought I made it clear that it is true that you can not please everyone. I don't expect that at all. However, what I am saying is, it seems like there are more complaints than there are positive things to say about this movie. I'm not saying no one should complain about the movie either. But is NOT human nature to whine, sorry. It seems like sometimes people can expect too much from something, and not just enjoy it for what/how it is. Or maybe I'm just expecting too much from people...

"Why so many complaints?????"

For the same reason you're complaining; you don't like some things you see and you want to speak up about it.

Hey, I don't like everything about this movie, but I enjoyed it. I can't wait to see it again! I looked at the positives, Bay is a new footnote in the great history that is Transformers and there are positive things to be said about his work. You know I really am looking forward the the sequel, I think it will mature, yet retain it lightness. Characters will develop, the saga continues.

I think there is something to be said for those of us who don't think this movie measures up to greatness. We should point out the positive things we like, mention the things we don't like, but not make such a big deal out of it. This movie really is all about the 4th of July, being a summer block buster hit and all around fun...and I had fun.

Yeah, yeah, fine. Justify it all you want. I'm not going to argue over this. Folks want to complain, fine. I don't care...

People always expect too much from everything. That's way people always complain they've been let down.

And yes, you do expect way too much from people.

As opposed to this same time last week when most of the threads were saying how it was the greatest movie of the year and or ever. Bottom line is enough people have seen it and not everyone likes it. I find it strange that peopel are even woryying about how many threads are pro or con relative to the movie in the first place? Things like this are to be expected when a new movie comes out.

:?

QFT.

Also, just because I did not like most of what went on with the film, from concept, production, and completed product, does not mean I HATE the film. I will buy the film on the full-screen 2 or 3 disc Limited Special Super Duper Edition when it comes out around Christmas.

I am GLAD they made a live-action TF film.

I acknowledge that Bay & Co. did work very hard to bring this thing through the other side.

Finally, just because I am a TF fan, does not mean I will just love anything branded with the scared metallic blocky script of G1...or, the new, war-torn, cracked, stainless steel script of the new film, for that matter.

It is a question of taste, and you can't please everyone.

They did their best, and it was a great attempt, but, in my opinion, it did not pass muster with me.

Not in alot of our opinions. It was a movie that was written that did not really care all that much for the source material. Add to that a director who's been almost downright snotty in regards to both the fans and that source material.
Bad mix. And in our eyes, bad result.

NO movie is going to be perfect. Every flick ever made has had their fair share of issues. To expect otherwise is simply unfair.

There's more "unfairness" that went on with the people who were making this movie the way they wanted it, with so very little concern for input from those who could've made it stellar.

I guess what I am saying is that it is better to be constructive than destructive. We all want a sequel don't we?

NO.

How do you expect to get it when the first movie is being ripped to shreds by those who are fans of TF's?

Alot of us don't want it. We just want this first poop to be flushed and gone ASAP.

The movie is making money, it may be a box office smasher by the end of the weekend. Support the movie, don't trash it.

No, that would be supporting more stuff like this. Great, the media barrage of advertising has done it's magic and brought everyone a profit. Cool. Now let's get back to the Transformers, not "The Day the CGI Shardbots Saved the Earth".

It truly amazes me how difficult, if not impossible it is to satisfy people. I seriously doubt that any of the negative folks could possibly do a better job than Bay and Spielberg. You may think you can, but it's a lot different when you're actually sitting in that director's chair, and not that cushy office chair infront of a computer screen online.

150 million as a budget? 25 years of Transformers knowledge? Let me at that puppy.

Those guys put all their hearts and talent into that movie,

No.

and the end product turned out to be rather excellent, despite the trivial flaws.

No.

Be happy we got a movie that is also so well recieved with general audiences.

Oftentimes, the public turns CRAP into something popular when it's shoved down their throats enough.
Paris Hilton? Did she REALLY deserve to be on the headlines of every media outlet, JUST because she's rich and banged someone on video?
No. She got popular because people, sadly, are sheep. Easily controllable.

Be supportive of a sequel by supporting THIS movie.

Holy crap, I can't believe some of the whining I read here. No offense, but come on. I like you guys lots, but sometimes, things get a little too out of hand.

This works both ways. It's exactly what I was thinking of the multitude of premiere night threads along the lines of "OMG, I literally SPLOOGED myself on this ROCK HARD MOVIE!!!".
Felt like a bunch of movie execs had hired a pack of viral marketers or something lol.

This movie was really excellent. Not the best, but rather really, really good. VERY good.

It was Independence Day, with the CGI just being used in a DIFFFERENT kind of over-the-top way.
(ID4 made alot of money too, but also sucked ass).

Basically, look at the glass as half full, not half empty. It's also healthier.

i don't like what's in the glass. And it's not water.
Better if left empty, for fear someone may come by and fill it back up.

Why so many complaints???

Well, if the movie had been perfect in every way and had pleased absolutely everyone... millions of fans would have "creamed their shorts" at the same time and it would have been incredibly awkward and the film would have to be pulled from theaters.

Just a thought.

And I protest your protesting. You may have heard every word, but you didn't obviously listen. I was simply trying to show that this movie, like any other has flaws, but shouldn't be slammed down to the ground by the very fans who wanted a movie to begin with. We could have had worse, and we could have had better, and I aknowledged that. But posts here show that people still persist to piss all over the movie, so the hell with it. This thread has obviously been doomed the second I created it. It's pointless to keep it open. I stand by my request. Mods, please close this thread. I don't want this to become a ground for arguments. That was never my intention. Thanks.

Well wait, the topic title is, "Why so many complaints?" ...we're just telling you why.

As for not being a grounds for an argument, why call people "whiners" and then not expect them to get defensive?
It's like opening th door to a police station, yelling, "Piggies want DONUTS? Oink! Oink!", then running outside and going "Time out!".

Very true. And to prove that point, read what Michael Bay wrote here in his blog about Tom DeSanto and how he shoved DeSanto to the door when DeSanto took issue with a few of the designs and plot lines. Long before Bay ever signed on it was said that DeSanto wrote the treatment yet somehow Bay managed to shove him aside too. And DeSanto was the anchor to this project from the very beginning. He was the biggest fan over Transformers out of anyone associated with the movie Project! It was his story outline and Tom's vision that aquired the rights in the first place! And yet Bay ignored all those facts and just shoved him, the Transformers history/mythos, aside.

E-FREAKING-GAD.
I missed that one completely. I knew Bay's been a downright arrogant little SNOT from start to finish, but that was just unbelievably sick.

That's the answer to this topic right there.

Why so many haters?
Because Bay hated so many things that made Transformers... Transformers.

I wish people would appreciate the fact that the movie wasn't a joke.

Then why were most of the humans the regular comedy-relief, bumbling-assed characters you see in any movie or sitcom?
