Now, as for increasing odds of survival, always remember the basics:
-Speed/Avoid & Strength/Ram are the two best combos for lower levels.
-The more Strength you have, the more damage you deal and more armor you can have.
-The more Speed you have, the more likely you are to use Avoid and the more likely you will land a hit.
If you have more XP to spend and want to increase your odds of surviving further, put points into Endurance. Rank can get you better armor but it's a pain in the butt to reset and re-armor your bots.
Other than that, hope the RNG favors you.
Hmmmm...What about Strafe? I have a few that are repair/strafe. I know strafe benefits from speed and firepower, so I imagined at first that speed/strafe/repair was the way to go. I started getting pummeled badly, so I switched to endurance with a little in speed. Still doesn't seem very good. I'd be very interested to partake of your knowledge with this one

Any knowledge you have is greatly appreciated!
Otherwise, that's what I've been doing. The outcomes just used to seem a lot less tilted. Very recently, over the past few days, the odds have really begun to feel unbalanced. For example, I used to go into fights with just myself and another level 1 against two level 2 'Cons and not know how it would turn out. This feels out of the question recently. The other day, Ashe3k and I were two level 4s against two level 2s and were completely destroyed, where they barely even took a scratch.
While RNG has always played a very unpredictable factor, something just feels very different now. I'm hoping that reallocating stat weights will help my survivability, but I may need to start breaking down some numbers. Found a handy thread with the probable algorithms for stats vs. performance, so that'll be a fun project.
