Tournament set-ups discussion

Hope everyone is enjoying the tournament. Thought it would be useful to have a dedicated thread for this. Discuss what seems to be working, planned tweaks, or just rant about stuff in general.

From what I have seen of my performance so far, I'm thinking of swapping the stats on my tactics giving Strafe 10 points and Avoid 7 points, and possibly putting more points in endurance next time round.

Any thoughts?

My set up is working pretty good for me right now. 4-0-0 currently. I think courage does matter a bit. Everyone that I have beaten has had less courage than me and I have attacked more than they have. I do also have a high speed stat as well and tactic maxed out. I am a single tactic by the way. Endurance is alright a 7. I wouldn't sacrifice a main stat to get more endurance though. Same way with firepower and skill just to get a higher weapon, unless you are a strafer.

4-0-0 record so far :D I like my simple stats and I have been winning by a good amount. Avoid and Ram baby!

I count 3-0, unless you are assuming you are going to beat Jeep?. :P

I think ram could be the way to go. Still undecided about avoid yet. Strafe could be good if you get off 100% strafe.

BTW, just went to 5-0, taking down SS14's Transistors. Autobots are looking pretty good so far.

well someone pulled a 93% strafe on me
Avoid just doesn't seem to be working for me not activating enough

I do agree with your comment on courage EP, I do seem to get in about three attacks
before the enemy can respond and attack more often (unless rammed)
.
Don't know how much good my endurance/armor is doing, hard to tell...

Maybe Strafe/Ram is the way to go

Might have to monitor someone that has a ram/strafe combo setup and see how they do. If that goes good, then see about making that with lots of courage and speed next round.

Anyone good and noticing the effects of armor and endurance? I would like to see what would be a good level to set them at. Mine seems to be holding up well so far. M

Might try some new weapons if battle blades start missing horribly.

My mistake it was 3-0-0 and I lost to Jeep? :-( So now 3-1-0

See, you jinxed yourself.

Anyway. I think the Autobots are doing great to start off. Probably better than most would have thought.

I'm not being as good an example as you EP but at least I have one win (and three losses... )
is there anyway to reduce the stun effect of Ram as this is really hurting me at the moment?

well, i'm not helping the cause being 2-2 right now.

the only way to limit the effects of stun is to ram them first...remember that next time around. ;)

I think my results suggest I could tinker with my set up a little bit next time round...

Fortunately my other five bots are earning just enough energon to cover the recovery costs so at least I can stay in the fight!

Every win counts. I want to show that we are not the pushovers that most think.

Well I drop to 7-1-0 with a loss to Helldart, not that expected to go undefeated through the whole thing. Strafe can make up for ram's advantage with those large strafing runs they can kick out.

says the man who's bot just got shut out by a strafing run...

Thats typical EP fashion. When he loses, he loses bad. In my test run against Thundertron, I got beat up bad by strafe. Need to get in that ram first before they can get strafe off.

I have found that courage 10 has ensured i've had the first attack in all but one of my battles, but then just seem to then stop, and do nothing else (no idea why), can't follow through on this advantage with my current setup.

Does strafe have a wind down time?

*Edit* just suffered another defeat but have gained valuable information for the side

this chap has rank nine and therefore i'm guessing some pretty impressive armor, this made my acid rainmaker (devastating to incredible damage) do 2-4% damage a hit! so yes armor does make an impact.

here's an idea for a set up for next time round - any thought's

Tank/Battleship (works out for either)

ST 6
IN 0
SP 10
EN 7
RK 0
CO 9
FP 10
SK 3

Ram 3
Strafe 10

Hey, not bad, starting out 5 -1 with a shutout among my wins. (Should be 2 shutouts, but the greasy guy avoided once  )

Looks like 0 CRG doesn't really matter too much! What's important is that none of my Strafes just kind of dribble out...

Man, if u won half of what you've lost, u might actually win this thing...

Now, u need to take notes, design a better build, & hit the next tourney with vengeance B-)

Hey,

I thought I would experiment and see what results I would get with a rank of 10, the best armor, and endurance of 10. Well, I was not able to afford rank 10, endurance 10, strength 10 and ram 10, so I compromised and got endurance of 9.

Turns out armor does nothing to minimize the damage of strafing and ramming. For all other attacks, the nano-regenerative armor is AWESOME! Most attacks rarely do more than 2% damage. Totally awesome.

Unfortunately, that armor cost me about 1 mil in energon. I am wining my matches roughly 2 to 1. I think if I had more courage I would attack more and would have a higher win ratio. I also don't have any firepower or skill so I am relying on my high strength and ramming. Fortunately, I only have 52 ability points so there is room for improvement and still stay below level 6.

I have courage of nine yet it seems to make next to no impact often people with courage 0 attack more often

I have a plan for next time, ditch the courage and go for more strength and endurance, whilst using a spaceship alt to give me strafe and ram,

the avoid set up i've gone for is useless doesn't activate enough to be remotely worth it

That has not at all been my experience. Quite the opposite in fact. Courage seems to make a very big difference.

Ah, I may know what is going on. Are you aware of the "stun" effect of ramming? If you get rammed and your attacker has higher strength than you, there is a chance your character will get stunned. This lasts for 1 minute and your attacker cannot fight back. Unfortunately, one minute may be enough for your attacker to finish you off.
