Autobots together we stand, Divided we fall...

Ive been playing this game since it started, I have been in a few sub-factions, even started my own after the crash 2 years ago and all the Autobot diversity was going around. AWC is/was good idea, so was the ASF, but I think we all need to put them aside and start fighting together against the Cons. I am tired of seeing us losing by 200+pts in the Mission/Arena ticker. If any Autobots out there wants to work together to actually start fighting against the Decpticons with actual numbers rather then being outnumbered most of the times please post. I am not here to name drop anyone or start any arguements on who's to blame. I just want get us rolling again and not getting our asses handed to each other. Who else feels this way?

I'm interested to see if you can succeed where others have failed. What exactly is your plan?

I pretty much just drop my bots in missions all day at work without giving much thought to it. If you have some coordinated plan I'll help as best I can.

ditto here

i had this idea a while back; because we're in all different time zones the only constant is its minutes past the hour, basically we only put out bots into mission for the first 20 mins of each hour.
this will hopefully give us a good boost/fill out missions and leave the remaining ones to go empty.

I wouldn't say plan per say. Just that I think communicating more rather then blindly go into things getting owned by the Decepticons. That tournie we had a month or so ago, we had a hand few of bots playing and we got crushed.

That's not a bad idea, although thats not exactly our problem. I think if we used this forum more and helped ourselves organize a stand against the cons. I know I don't post alot as of late, Im active duty U.S. Air Force, but I plan to get more involved in the forums even though I have been still playing.

The cons have won most of the tournies since the first one. The only one the bots one that I can recall is Dark Tidings, and in that one, the victory was handed to them.

Traditionally, the cons will hold their guys back and look for tournie missions, and post those missions for the other cons to join, who are on at that time. Kinda like the old "looking for backup" threads, which this forum could use.

This forum is little used. As is the whole of the HMW forums. How do you plan to get more people looking in the forums, let alone active?

*unlurks*

All told, this isn't really about tourneys or anything else. It's the fact that people don't check the boards anymore as a whole, and that 'Bots are also tip-toe'ing around the mission hub because the 'Cons are (currently) so dominant.

A 'looking for backup' thread would help immensely. Doesn't necessarily mean that more people will post, but those who just scan this specific forum will have something to check on at least once in a while. Perhaps also an introductory thread where people can post their teams, what they're going for with each member, etc? Can't very well hope to make a community with the HMW 'Bots if we don't know who we're fighting alongside, after all. :D

Using the 'front page' of the game itself (viewable by clicking the Heavy Metal War link on the left-hand column in-game) and its news section would likely help as well. Putting up things in the news section that makes it something worth checking into.

But that's just my two cents. Hopefully I haven't killed this thread in the process. >.>

Getting the forums active would help the game in it's whole go better, not just us as a faction. there's been one post in Darkmount since the 21st of April, and it wasn't a game specific one.

A backup thread would be nice, so would a thread calling out cons for competition in HMW:General for those times of day when we have the numbers.

Unfortunately, the news on the HMW index page is out, since I think only admin can write anything there. The site specific news usually gets buried if it's about HMW.

You, get back out of lurk and post more!

Well as of the recent tournie that we just had we actually had numbers. although it wasn't a mass of people, but we had people. During that whole tournie it was a ghost town here and we paid the price. Cons have alot better organization for tournies as they've proven again and again. Hell Every tournie.

That's really the problem, not much anyone can do to make people be active in the game or on the forums. Aside from mass Pms or hassling people on instant messengers, which I am not a fan of, or me coming into your house and forcing you! :P There's really not alot to do there, what would you do? Since this is an apparent problem.

Good points all around. HMW:General would be a good place to start for anything, especially if both factional boards are suffering from relative inactivity. Spark something, plotting and plans retreat to the factional boards, and there we go.

Put up threads to get people active. Do any bots work on profiles for their characters or kitbashes? I know the cons do, and they're more than willing to share that work with each other. Anyone here an artist? Anyone draw stuff aside from robots? How about gaming on other systems/games? What do people play? New players got questions? Want to ask a vet about the game? Want to try to stump a know it all? As long as the HMW forums remain a place devoid of personality and community, the game is gonna suffer.

I heartily endorse threads that showcase creativity.

As far as kitbashing goes, there's plenty of work in the Transtopia forums you can look at, or if you're one of those people who don't like venturing out of the HMW forums, you can always post here and i'll help out. Just because i'm too lazy to kitbash anymore doesn't mean I can't help!

Trawl E-Bay and find yourself a junker Seeker or Sideswipe.

Two easy to disassemble figures to start on.

Really? Hmm... I honestly didn't know they made them... I know that most of the 1/100 scale gundam weapons work with alternators and more or less bots of that size... but I didn't know about the AC parts. As soon as I get me an unemployment check, I'll have to see about getting me some of them.

It's not really realistic, but I'd like to learn how to take like a Land Raider or Valkerie from WH:40K and completely screw with that to make it into a transformer...

Just found out about this thread, to which I'd also like to subscribe.
I too don't post too regularly, except of course when AZ and I are debating statistics :-B, and I usually just dump my 'Bots in whenever I get the chance, which is actually quite often, but always in the European timezone waking hours.
Anyhow, I've always wondered what the 'Cons do better than us that makes them succesful in the tournees: do they really save up best 'Bots for certain mission types: or do they pool up and all enter at the same time? And also, the 'call for back up threads'... how succesful are these?
I mean, I just throw the 'Bots in whatever missions are available mostly: filling missions with plenty of opposition is a no-brainer, while missions with all 'Bots and no 'Cons are mostly a waste of time, so if avoidable, I enter other missions. Still, during my playing hours, I am often enough having to refresh the mission page to generate missions 'cause there aren't enough available. There's usually hardly a cause for me to request back up or even to back up fellow 'Bots...

Bludge used a number of AC weapons packs, plus the Gundam shield. The axe came from some other series which had about 4 weapons packs, none of which were that great.

Hecatomb used WH:40K weapons. Problem with WH stuff is the weapons aren't sold seperately and it's a lot of money to shell out for "spare parts"

It's realistic. You'd probably want to do a mix of re-shelling and scratch building. Neither of which i've ever attempted and honestly don't think i'll ever get to that skill level.

The reason I recommended a seeker and/or Sideswipe is like I said, they're VERY easy to disassemble and re-assemble. Some of the more modern figures are a little more complicated on the inside so they're probably not the best to start on, unless you really are good at taking things apart and putting them back together with no spare parts left over. :P
(aka what happens when Burn assembles furniture)

I'm usually pretty good at pulling stuff apart and putting it back together correctly. My mom made sure of that after I pulled apart every G1 transformer I ever owned as a kid, including Sky Lynx and Tripticon. She hated that. I haven't tried as much with the newer stuff, but... can it really be harder than a perfect grade gundam? .. Probably...

I'm still waiting on my first unemployment check, but I have kind of an idea for a seeker, no colors, just the idea of slapping valkerie wings on a seeker jet, and seeing if they'd work.

Yeah, the WH:40k stuff is pretty pricey. Most of the vehicals run $50-$75.

How much does your average kitbash run you?

I'm trying(and will continue to try my best) to get back into this thing. But ever since i got the PS3, it's been one game after another hogging my attention, Madden, NHL, FFXIII, FFVIII, MW2. Love this system. So glad my 360 died for a second time, haha. And i see Skate 3 and War for Cybertron stealing some time in the future too.
