The Energon Pub

Ok, so after reading a few threads about Autobots uniting, getting involved, having fun, chocolate, and pink ponies, I'm thinking about running a week-long "Hunt the Spartans" scalphunt thingy while I'm on summer vacation. It'll be where the 'Cons will post kills of Autobots with the same altmodes as my Spartans and the 'Bots will post kills of Decepticons with altmodes of the Spartans' mortal enemies, the "Renegades" (who do not exist within the game, but exist in the backstory of my team). Here's what I was thinking:

*Event will run from some Sunday at noon Central Daylight Time until the following Saturday at Midnight Central Daylight Time
*Only missions with at least 3 combatants on both sides will be valid. I do this because it will both limit the field, making things easier to count, and hopefully it'll get arena- and forum-lurkers involved (wishful thinking, I know).
*All participants will receive a badge/avatar colored based on number of kills (e.g., 25 kills = silver, 50 kills = gold, etc., and everyone else gets a red one)
*The top Autobot and Decepticon participants will receive an energon donation (amount to be determined) from me and/or anyone else willing to contribute
*The top overall player will receive a custom signature from me (even though I'm a Photoshop n00b )

Anyway, I'm open to ideas, suggestions, contributions, etc. Just wanted to run this by someone before making plans.

One question.

Why have the 'Cons run a comp as well? Why not keep it 'Bot only? A little inter-faction competition?

Hmmm, good point. I didn't think about it like that. 'Course, that all hangs on whether my brethren get involved. Still, good call

Burn: Are the con's really doing anything right now? It might help boost activity for a bit in the forums, and maybe we can get some people to stick around.

You saw my attempt at Easter.

The only reason I suggest to NOT include the 'Cons is we have a history of running our own inter-faction contests and that's helped bring us together.

So personally (not as a Mod) i'd like to see a inter-faction 'Bot contest. They do have a good habit of bringing players closer together by generating a little bit of rivallry.

Just try to set it up in a way that RoS can participate without dominating too much.

He'll take first. It's pretty much a given.

I actually approached RoS and another 'Bot about doing something for the Autobots. RoS was busy and the other one ignored me.

I even intended to do a news thing about it to. But you know, if people aren't going to help, then i'm not gonna bother. (Like I said though, RoS was busy but he was more than willing to help if he could have)

Alright, so now this'll be an inter-'Bot contest, same rules and such. You guys that have expressed an interest, you can help by spreading the word when it comes time to get this thing started. I don't think I'm gonna get anything going until early-mid June, but the more people that know the better.

Also, if someone can get me a list of the Decepticon altmodes so I can pick which ones I want to use, that'd be greatly appreciated.

Maybe if this gets a decent turnout I'll run a bigger event in the future (scavenger hunt?).

I'm gonna go ahead and set a date for this shindig since we've got a healthy number of players willing to participate. I'll run this from noon CDT May 23 to midnight CDT May 29. That gives y'all 2 weeks to prepare and spread the word to other Autobots, and gives me 2 weeks to write up a story and work on participation icons

I can afford to give a lot more than that. How about multiplying your numbers by 3:
600K for 1st
300K for 2nd
150K for 3rd

No it's not too late--it hasn't even started yet

I'm going to start preparing tomorrow (story, images, etc.) and I will officially start this thing on Sunday at noon CDT

Yes, that would be great. Those that do not have access to Iacon are welcome to participate; however, I can't think of a more efficient system for logging claims other than PMing kills directly to me. Anyone have any suggestions?

I was kinda thinking that, but I was also looking for an alternative to going into GD. I was gonna make a claims thread here Iacon anyway, but we can use GD for everyone, sure.

ehhhhhhh see i'd like your claims thread here to get the sub-forums more active.

And I really don't want to hear the usual crowd chime in with "oh look, the Autobots are copying the Decepticons with their own contest" or the other usual garbage.

I just want to see you guys have a nice friendly little contest on your own.

But that's just my 2 cents, whatever you decide on doing, i'll help in any way I can.
Which these days is basically making things sticky.
