So... can any DBZ/Transformer character actually destroy VY Canis Majoris?

Unicron or Primus could. They've both blown up bigger things in various continuities.
With the DBZ side it depends how powerful you think they are. If you take Cell's boast he can destroy the solar system at face value then maybe one of the later guys can do it.

You know, this gif reminds me of the device in Douglas Adams' books, which shows the user how insignificant he is compared to the Universe, so killing the user...
I think DBZ warriors can't destroy it (maybe except for Boo), but on the end of the DBGT, Goku was at the level to destroy such big stars.

Exactly my thought, Kid Buu is the only DB(Z/GT) character that could destroy it and survive the explosion and empty space.

What about Vegetto? He was even stronger that Buu's strongest form.

I'll begin taking those two seriously when they stop being Mary Sue characters.
Kid Buu could. Gogeta might be able to as well (Being stronger than Kid Buu by a rather large number) but he's so cocky, he'd probably reshape the star into his face, than start playing with it, until he splits, and Vegeta and Goku both die from the heat and lack of a breathable atmosphere.

I say anyone at or beyond Broly's level could do it. Perhaps
Super Saiyan 2nd Grade. Broly destroyed an entire galaxy while in his blue-haired super saiyan form. That's billions of stars, one big one means nothing
I'd say only an original 13, primus or unicron

ill say brolly. its too hard ranking his power level against anyone elses, he dominated everyone so completely there isnt any kind of comparative feat because power levels change so much, and nothing really hurt him so we dont know how much he can physically take. so ill vote him from dbz.
and unicron might be able to, but not the movie version. tornadron should be able to.
