Shockwave would easily own Soundwave (even if he has all his casseticons).

Hmm, I dunno. Having to contend with three flying cassettes, and two land based cracking up the ground and air waves plus Soundwave himself would put Shockwave in a pretty bad position.

Also, remember Shockwave's notoriously bad aim. :P

But Shockwave is meant to be some kind of super badass outside of the cartoon, though I have not read the comics. But I'd have to give victory to Soundwave if he had his minions, and victory to Shockwave if he were against Soundwave alone.

You missed out, comic Shockwave can fight all 5 Dinobots at the same time.

And the comic Dinobots are beyond badass:

Shockwave is supposed to be as strong as Megatron. Megatron could clearly win this fight with ease.

Shockwave wins this fight with ease.

(He killed all the transformers in the comic books after all)

Indeed, Shockwave has superior tech specs overall. He could destroy Soundwave from a distance with a massive energy blast. I'm assuming that Soundwave has no Cassetticons to help him.

However, Soundwave has the edge in skill and also can read minds through monitoring brainwaves. If he concentrates, he can anticipate Shockwave's attacks and avoid them while making his own counterstrikes.

In his position as communications officer and thus spy/snitch, Soundwave is regularly attacked by both Autobots and Decepticons. Consequently, he has learnt to be ready for surprise attacks at any time. He must have a lot of contingency plans for countering these, including some for Shockwave.

With his high skill levels, Soundwave might be able to turn Shockwave's energy attacks back against him. We have seen that Transformers can redirect energy beams and make them do amazing things. Might not Soundwave be able to deflect Shockwave's beams? If Soundwave is properly prepared, I'd venture that it is possible. Soundwave might even be able to make Shockwave's internal fusion reactor malfunction, leading to a loss of power and even serious physical damage.

Soundwave also has a shrinking / expanding ability, which might be used to damage Shockwave if Soundwave could get inside him somehow. I imagine that this is not very likely, knowing what we do about Shockwave's body.

Perhaps Soundwave's greatest weapon is information. He has vast amounts at his disposal. He could use this to persuade Shockwave not to attack him. He could convince Shockwave that there were far more important matters that demanded his attention. He could also blackmail Shockwave with knowledge of his vulnerabilities, especially his secret schemes. However, Shockwave also has plenty of information and could use the same strategies against Soundwave.
