their both reasonably young and reckless, sideswipe might have more experience, and has his piledriver hands, but hot rod probably has more natural skill.

id give sideswipe a strength advantage and hot rod a speed advantage. but neither of them have great strength, and both of them are fast and gutsy. who takes it?

I really want to say Sideswipe, but if the Optimus killer can keep his distance he'll come out on top.

Hotrod has potential but Sideswipe' been fighting side by side with Sunstreaker while Hotrod's been getting shown up by Springer.

Though Sideswipe is one of my favorite TF, I don't think he can beat Hot Rod. Hot Rod just seems technologicaly superior. He was seen training hard for sword fight and he benefits from two built-in triple laser cannons. Not only that: He IS the chosen one.

(Well I must admit I like Hod Rod pretty much too...)

Sideswipe against normal Hot Rod, i'd say Sideswipe. Sideswipe is my favorite Autobot but if it's Rodimus Prime he's facing, the battle goes to Rodimus.

Sideswipe!!! maybe!!! unless its Rodimus, Hot Rod was just a young Rookie while Sideswipe was battling alongside Sunstreaker, Prowl and the others...

Simple tactic... take the fight to Hot Rod, stay ontop of him and dont give him time to think damage him bad then jetpack away andd finish him with firepower

If it was a race, Hot Rod would win. In hand to hand combat, Sideswipe would have the edge experience wise.
Sideswipe wins.

Sideswipe is full of jealous range and therefore wins. He's supposed to be the popular red car but he looks too 1980s and doesn't have flame decals.

More seriously, Sideswipe should do the jet pack, pick-up-and-drop-from-a-height strategy. He should follow up with an almighty pummelling, with his fists not another body part. He should then be able to execute the unconscious Hot Rod.

However, Hot Rod is fast and skillful so this strategy is not guaranteed to work. HR would be surprised at first but would defend himself. Both he and S would start accumulating injuries. S would press his attack. HR would hit back and knock S down. HR would retreat at great speed. He cares deeply for his comrades. He wouldn't want to kill S. Shaking off his latest blows, S would watch HR race into the distance. He wouldn't pursue because he wouldn't be fast enough to catch him, especially with his latest injuries. He'd go for repairs and try to kill HR later if possible. I wonder what his motivation would be? Jealousy really?
