I think this one's a bit of a no-brainer.

The mutant with the healing factor and claws (bone or metal, take your pick, really doesn't matter!) wins this one with barely a bat of an eyelash.

How? Wolverine's survived being vaporized before. Of course, seeing as how his bones are indestructible, it's impossible to fully vaporize him.

Because, as everyone knows, Wolverine is prone to just standing there and letting someone shoot at him with any sort of firearm.

Phaser or no phaser, Kirk loses.

You also forgot to mention all of wolverines crazy skills..martial arts, firearms, ect. he's fought in virtually ever major war since the 1800's or sommthing, not to mention all the unmentionable missions.
And on the kirk/wolverine slash bit, wolverine's straight you know.

Kirk has the Enterprise. He could immobilise Wolvie in a force-field and take him to a black hole. Wolvie would be crushed into a singularity. Sorry, Wolvie but you were impossible anyway.
