Maybe its a little early, but based on the trailers and pictures of the new devastator, who would actually win between the ROTF version and the classic G1?

Based on what we know, it's a tough one. RotF looks more menacing and perhaps more powerful, but G1 can take an assbeating and keep going, we know that. Usually because he's too stupid to know he's hurt. Right now, I will give it to RotF, just because he's made of 7 guys, and seems just more advanced.

yeah but i think that G1s leg would be sucked in (mixmaster) but he would eventually beat rotf

ROFT Devy would win because despite what the twins did to him he kept functioning. Let Skids and Mudflap at G1 and he'd be dead in 3 rounds of the fight.

Well, both are relatively slow, but RotF Devastator doesn't seem to have any long-range weapons other than his galaxial vacuum cleaner, while G1 Devvy sports an old-fashioned rifle; RotF D seemed to be extremely vulnerable (he got injuries from the abominations' weapons, and one shot of a rail gun took him down), so... G1 wins.

RotF Devastator - Dug a trench and climbed a pyramid. Was shot in the chest one time by a Railgun and fell off the pyramid to his death.

G1 Devastator - First appearance and combination vs. the Dinobots.

Him gutting Autobot City and the rematch vs. the Dinobots

The G1 Constructicons survived being dumped into magma caused by an active volcano and fought the Dinobots to a standstill twice. Not only would he destroy his movie counterpart with minimal effort he would devastate most of the movie cast by himself. Nothing stops the Devastator. Nothing.

Gen 1 Devastator. Not even close.

G1 Devastator, his powers of nostalgia will always prevail

i think the fact that rotf devestators boddy parts can be in 2 places at once givs him a advantege

G1 Devastator. He's got long-range weapons, is a hell of a lot more agile compared to ROTF Devvie and is just more solidly built. His components also have that little thing we like to call 'personality'.

Do you guys know how powerful a railgun is? Don't just call out Rotf devastator because your not a fan of the movie verse. Lets put in some facts besides G1 devy because its awesome.

I've already said why the railgun was retarded multiple times. For example, is it more energy generated than say... falling through the atmosphere at terminal velocity and impacting the earth? No? Well then why did it destroy a gestalt?

I liked the first movie, but the second one was a shitpile and Devastator being the worst offender. What did he do in that movie exactly? Oh right, he dug a trench, climbed a pyramid, knocked the pyramid off, got shot in the chest once by a railgun (a human weapon), and fell to his death.

G1 Devastator nearly single handedly ripped apart a Transformer scaled city with Transformers scaled defensives with his bare hands. He shrugged off missiles and laser blasts created by advance technogy from an alien race of robots that are advanced technology themselves. He then took on 4 out of 5 giant Dinosaur based Transformers that are an elite commando unit who were fully charged after he had spent well over 12 hours fighting.* Arguably the most powerful non Gestalt group of Transformers in Generation 1.

Facts are in: RotF Devastator still loses. By a lot. In one of the most one sided beatdowns since Mike Tyson punched out one of his exes.

*The Attack on Autobot City started in daylight hours. Most likely mid day. The siege lasted from then all through the night and into morning. It looks like Optimus arrived at noon given the lighting of the outdoors parts of the scene. So yeah roughly 12 hours (or more) give or take of constant siege war and he still fought the Dinobots to a standstill. There was a reason why Kup said it's name in a hushed whisper. And that's because G1 Devastator was a god damn bad ass.

ROTF Devastator is a lot bigger and thus stronger. If G1 Devastator wants to win, he should use his 10,000 degree cannon and slash ROTF Devastator to pieces from a distance.
