I think that both are evenly matched when Prime is in his Powermaster body.
Regular Prime would get his ass kicked

Just like Megatron before him, I'm almost certain Prime defeated Galatron on a pretty regular basis after his big return in G1 season three.

I Would say optimus would win because good always beats evil.

Probably Prime, he was relatively even to Megatron in the show, and Galvatron lost his mind a bit which could make it go either way. I see the insanity as an advantage for Prime though so my vote goes to him.

If you are talking about the comics galvs then optimus wont have a chance.

Not to sound rude, but how can you be "almost certain" of something we never saw in the toon??

Anyway, If its the toon I say its most likely Optimus.

Comics, Galvatron.

As we have seen in Rise of the Beasts, Prime can't win against the agents of Unicron without proper preparation - physical, mental and emotional. He needs to get psyched up. He needs to think about strategy and tactics. He needs to avoid harming the innocent during the battle. When he's ready, he can win.

Galvatron is easily a match for Prime so he's always got a chance. If he wants to make victory more likely, he can arrange something to hinder Prime: a trap, a hostage, advance warning of Prime's attack, etc. G1 Galvatron can shrink to handgun mode, so that would help in ambushing Prime. One big blast could blow Prime to pieces.

Basically, the outcome depends on levels of preparation and motivation.
